Neanderthal: Discovered in 1856 in a limestone quarry in the Neander Valley (Neander Thal in German).

Cro-Magnon man: discovered in 1868 in the cave of Cro-Magnon in southwest France

Neanderthal is a place in Germany, where neanderthal man was first discovered.

I am not sure about Cro-Magnon, but again I think it is a place in France where cro-magnon Man was discovered.
