I have an obsession with calories. I count exactly how many I take in, how many I burn, and even how many calories other people take in. I'm obsessed with working out to burn calories and always burn exactly 350 a day at the gym, and an additional 100 or so from just walking, etc. I ALWAYS read nutrition facts, and for home-made meals, I watch my mom closely and calculate exactly how many calories are in each meal. I hate this habit, and it's disrupting my normal life! (in school, I always dwell on how much I've eaten that day and how much I need to work out to burn it off) I'm 16 (almost 17), 5'3 and 99 pounds, so I'm not like ultra-skinny or anything, i just have a strange obsession!!! Am I OCD??

you can't get strangers to diagnose you on the Internet, but if you "hate this habit" you recognize you have a problem so take to your school counsel or ask your mom to set up an appoint met with a therapist....
good luck

I'm afraid you might have some sort of eating disorder. I am OCD and your behavior could simply be ocd, also...just concentrated on your eating habits. What happens if you were to not do these things for say a day? or even one meal? what kind of feelings do you get when you think about not doing it? OCD basically is a situation where you have an unhealthy obsession w/ something and you're so afraid of it that you feel you can control the uncontrollable with very specific actions or compulsions. Is that the kind of feeling you get? Do you feel out of control or panicky if you don't do these things? If so, maybe you should talk to someone. If not your parent(s) maybe a trusted friend or school counselor, or better yet, your doctor? Good luck with this, it can be eased and even overcome...I've made a LOT of progress with my OCD in my life. Hopefully, you will reach a point where you don't feel this stress...you're much too young for it and have too much to look forward to. And as for society and it's image problems, try not to fall into the fear of gaining weight, etc. b/c truly, you sound a little too thin and I really don't think worrying about calories so much would be necessary for someone like you.

Since you say that it is starting to interfere with your life, then I would be forced to say you are heading that way.

Instead of worrying about the food intake and how many calories are consumed, why not concentrate on other things, things that make you happy? You need a replacement, something else to think about. There are sports, boys, school, friends, cars, family. When you catch yourself thinking about food, just start thinking about some other thing, and if you do this long enough, then you should get out of the habit of being so structured and inflexible in your schedule. As one singer said, "Don't worry, be happy." So lighten up and enjoy life, when you are older, you'll find a lot to worry about, but for now, just relax and enjoy, and experience life.

Be happy, and have fun, Worry later

good luck

stop being self-evaluating and caring whether u r an OCD or not...
if i were u i would join a running team ( im a 16 year old male teenager and im in a running team ) however theres that girl with me in the team that was obcessed with her weight and then she says that when she joined the running team...she guarantees burning hundreds of calories a day
she says now shes much happier and she can eat what she wants
mayb u should do like her

i'd say so - but i wouldnt say its a horrible ocd. youre just being healthy. when it comes to other peoples i would try to steer clear from that - cause you dont know what others need and it could get pushy or even annoying.
