It's getting harder and harder to find boys names that aren't also used as a girls...I had my son Landyn last year and found out that's also being used as a girls name...ugh!! I want to find a boys name that I can be reasonably sure wont be a girls name 20 years from now.

I hear you on this one. Last year, I worked as an attendance clerk at a high school, and so many parents would be like "I'm here to take Jordan/Taylor/etc to a doctor's appointment", and I'd be so embarassed because I wouldn't know whether to ask whether "he" or "she" had a note to get out of class :P
A lot of "traditional" boys names will never be girls names, and will only have feminine versions, such as Michael, Jacob, Andrew, Peter...etc. Unfortunately, it seems that the boys names are monopolizing the girls list, making it harder to find a unique name for a boy. (That's the problem I'm having now!) So I feel your pain!

Ick it's annoying, I know, parents these days are looking to be "unique" and "special", but they aren't doing a world of good to their child who will have to live with the name their entire life. Just look at it this way; would you rather be in your son's shoes with a perfectly great name or in a female Landyn shoes? About names that will probably still be masculine 20 years from now, probably the more classic names, like William, Benjamin, Henry, John, and Michael. Good luck and God bless!

Try picking a more traditional name. Our boys are Ian and Shaun and I am pretty sure those are going to stay boys' names 20 years down the road :)

(granted I have known some little girls to be named Shawna)

Don't use the "y". That automatically puts a feminine touch to a name. Landon or Landan is much more masculine. Technically, any name can be unisex nowadays but it's all about the spelling to me.

Example: Jordan or Jordon for a boy but then Jordyn for a girl.

Daryll
Stephen
Brent
Shaun
Jonathan
Louis
All the names of my six boys. All are quite masculine and I dont really see a girl having a name like Daryll or Brent or something. Louis maybe but girls are Louise and we call him Louie or Lou.

Good luck with that. People are taking names to another level these days--and their kids are the one's paying for it. Here are some nice boy names that I like that, hopefully, won't be used as girl names!

Hudson
Luke
Samuel
Gavin
Barron

i know what you mean,i have heard of people around here naming their girls things like Parker! or Payton? it is not right and it will only confuse the kids!!! maybe they should stick with family names or biblical names? like for a boy Daniel or Moses or Samuel or Enoch or Cain or Abel or Issac or Matthew or John or Mark or Luke or Simon ? just to name a few.

How about the old fasion ones. None of this crap like "oh let add some random letter so my child will be special" or the "what sound does our silverware make on this wall" or some other crap like that. If you want something that is going to be male. Name him after a male: Bob, John, Herman, Jesus, Anthony, Igor, Irving, Darrin, etc ...

Anyone can make a boy's name for a girl simply by naming their child that name.... I actually know a girl named Bradley... Also, a friend of mine has a daughter named Jesse. AND, my name is Carson!

I don't like the name Landon, but I do prefer it for a girl!

wow I've never heard of Landon being used as a girl's name. I really like it for a boy's name.
