do democrats really help get people on their feet or do they just give handouts to reduce the poverty statistics? poverty among native born individuals shouldnt increase once you get rid of certain programs. if people were really back on their feet with an education and a career, then they would no longer need programs. the jobs market in america is not as bad as zimbabwe as many liberals try to make it seem, with endless comparisons to countries with smaller populations who receive less refugees and less immigrants per annum. not to mention their tireless effort to try to interpret european unemployment figures and compare them to US unemployment figures. sure, norway has low unemployment with its oil money and low population. so does switzerland with its banking and low population.

Government intervention is Never a good thing.
For every dollar they take from you in taxes you can except to get 10 or 15 cents back if your lucky.

First of all, don't confuse ideas with irrelevancies.
Zimbabwe is ruled by an insane dictator and, even at the best of times, never had a standard of living remotely comparable to the US. Switzerland is a country of 7 million people who are highly educated, mostly well off, with good educational opportunities, good medical care and VERY high taxes on everything.
The US is a nation of 300 million people. This is a very big population for a western, highly developed country.(Britain has a population of about 61 million.) Education is not great. Taxes are relatively low but then we don't get much for our taxes, do we?

The middle class in America is losing ground with stagnant wages, medical costs, college access, and the soaring cost of living. These are not opinions. Look it up. These are facts provided by the government's own statistics. The gap between the Haves and Have Nots has widened in the last six years.
The cost of milk (due to ethanol production because cows eat corn and corn makes ethanol)
has almost doubled this year. This includes other dairy products, too.

What do the democrats do to help alleviate poverty?
Have you ever heard of any of the following:
Child labor laws
Medicare
Social Security
Right to work laws
Anti-discrimination laws (for women, disabled workers, and minorities)
Family and medical leave laws
Sexual harrassment laws
Black lung laws
Workers' pension laws
OSHA rules
Overtime rules
Minimum wage laws
Workmen's compensation
Maternity leave laws
Returning soldier work laws
Injured on the job workers' laws
Wage and hours standards
Polygraph protection laws
Wage garnishment laws
And many more.
Now, guess how Republicans voted on these laws when they were first proposed.

Neither Democrats and Republicans want the real numbers of unemployment.

This question has a Republican slant.

Any legal resident of the US should not whine or cry not having enough money or "stuff" Anything is possibloe here if people would just want it...but yes, they would actually have to do it themself.
