This is just a question not trying to sound rude.. why do people name their kids with more than one middle name?? i mean is their a meaning to it or do they just want their kids to have long names they cant spell until their older?

I have 2 middle names and the reason my parents gave them to me was that they wanted me to have a first name, a christian name, and an african muslim name as well as my last name because of my background. (and my parents taught me to spell my full name early on)

A lot of times, people with more than one middle name have family names for middle names or the parents wanted to have a regular middle name and a family name. Something like that. I dont think many people give their kid two middle names if they dont have any significance. And a lot of kids cant spell their names anyways... its all good.

Sometimes it's a cultural thing. In my culture (Cuban), when a child is born, the mother's maiden name becomes either the middle name or follows the surname.
For example, Juan Luis Buenaflor Infiesta, or Juan Luis Infiesta de Buenaflor, where "Infiesta" is his father's last name and "Buenaflor" is his mother's maiden name.
Other times, they will do it to honor a family member or use a family name in a way they otherwise couldn't...
But sometimes, it is just a trend.

Their are different reasons like
It could be a compromise between Mom and Dad
A longer name tends to sound classey-er in my opinion
The mother mas sneak her maiden name as a middle name(thats what my mom did and I can not imagine my name any other way!)

THERE might be a meaning...my nephew has two middle names because he is named for my father and my SIL wanted to include her father's name too.... my nephew does just fine spelling all of his names....he only needs to spell his first and last anyway...plus he goes by one of his middle names.

It could also be a cultural thing, in England lots of people have two middle names.

I am currently pregnant and intend to name my child with four names if it is a boy or girl. If it is a girl I am going to have my last name and the father's last name and if it is a boy I am going to have my mother's maiden name and the father's last name. I like it and don't think there is anything wrong with it.

To each his own.

I personally don't understand it, but many catholic families give many middle (and first) names to their kids.

As a former government employee, it is soooo CRUEL to give your kids too many names. It is next to impossible to enter a name like Mary Elizabeth Janice Schaeffer Smith (2first names, one middle name, 2last names)....it would look like this on a govt form:
Schaeffer Smith Mary Elizabeth Janice........
What was the first name again? What were the middle names again? Too confusing.

Some people add names from generations back, from the people I know it's their culture to add last names of like their parents, grandparents, etc.

We gave our son two middle names to honor both grand fathers. It has hardly hindered his spelling abilities.
