This is a very good question. I really liked Rachel's answer as well. In my opinion this a very subjective question. It all depends on the individual answering it. For me personally, I really feel that a good friend who betrayed me would be the worst. Family may be blood, but most of them have nothing in common with me except for a name. My father's side never got along with my mother and I feel like I was always left out of "their family" since my father passed when I was a child.
My mother's family was abusive to her when she was young and we do not keep in touch with any of them, so a betrayal from these people wouldn't be anything new.

Love has always had it's ups and downs. Good times and bad times. Being betrayed by the one you love probably hurts worse than any other kind of betrayal in the beginning, but as you regain the sense that you lost while you were "blinded by love" so to speak, the pain diminishes somewhat. The scars will always remain, but the pain itself will subside.

Now when it comes to friends, I personally have always been kind of a loner. I have some friends, but not many, and the ones I have, I hold in extremely high regard. I am fiercely loyal towards my friends and expect the same in return. Perhaps the lack of having a sense of "big family" has caused me to treat some of my friends as family replacements. When I talk about certain friends, I often refer to them as my "brother or sister" but these friends are just that close to me. And sure, we have our differences now and then, but our comraderie is much more powerful than that. We are family. And to be betrayed by one of them, might be more than I could bear.

I think it varies depending on the individual relationship and what exactly the betrayal is.

For myself, my family has always been close through thick and thin. Even if my family betrayed me I would still be able to forgive them because they will always be there whether I like it or not. They have been there for me when I needed them the most and theres really nothing they could do that I wouldn't be able to get over.

As far as lovers betraying you, I think it depends on how close you are to your lover. If you are married, it is the ultimate betrayal for the spouse to cheat. If you are engaged, it still hurts but it is isn't the end of the world but it still hurts a lot. If you have been dating someone for awhile, it will hurt but at least most people know that they have to kiss a few frogs before they find their prince because boyfriends/girlfriends come and go.

With regards to a friend's betrayal, it would also depend on the closeness you have with them. For example, my best friend and I have been best friends for 15 years (which is a good portion if you consider that I'm 20). She has been there for me through every single experience I have ever had and if she betrayed me, that would be the worst betrayal in my opinion because we have shared so much.

So in general I think it really varies from individual to individuals depending on the circumstances and closeness of the relationship you have. Very awesome question!

Mother or Father neglecting or abusing their child is a great betrayal. Children dishonoring parents like Adam and Eve did. Betrayal
