I use a wet/dry shop vac to get all the nasty blockage out of the drain. I hold a wash rag over the vent hole and position the hose over the drain and let it vacuum for a good 5 minutes or until I no longer hear or feel anything going into the shop vac. This works quite well.

Well if all else fails take your shower as usual and then plunge and try the hanger trick if that still doesn't work you're clean... Just pour some bleach down the drain and let that sit... It's cheaper and not as harsh as drain opener and it won't harm your drain.. Good luck..

try a coat hanger straightened out. that should get you about 2 feet down the pipe. if that doesn't work, you are going to need drain cleaner.-if you happen to have it, Muriatic acid works great as a drain cleaner. it would have been used for cleaning concrete, like maybe if you painted a sidewalk or patio????

do you have a plunger ? try that, use a pumping action, if you have an over flow, in the tub put a wet cloth over it to seal it while your pumping the drain,
if not use your Heel to stomp the water down,
[ acts like a plunger,]
