Did kissing Arafat on the lips have anything to do with this?

Every time this question of what would you say to Jimmy Carter comes up...the board just dumps all over this little insignificant man. Is it now time to let by gones be bygones?

I wouldn't wouldn't say Hated, but here's his resume, facts are facts, worst president in U.S. History, by a wide margin

Jimmy Carter's greatest hits
Thanks for the highest inflation in U.S. History,
Thanks for that energy crisis,
Thanks for your failed middle east policy
Thanks for allowing IRAN to hold hostages in our own embassy for over 454 days,
Great JOB IN LETTING CASTRO empty out his jails and send us all his Killers, Rapists and drug dealers to the U.S., nice job on that one.
Thank god Reagan stomped your butt in 80 to clean up your failures.

President Jimmy Carter is way out of step with American politics.
He actually tries to understand the Palestinian plight and has the nerve to request some other people try to understand.
He attempted to get the Haitian government a fair leader (Areosteade I think is his name )The leader the Haitian people had voted for and was ousted by a coup.
(Pres.Carter got him back in the president's seat only to have him exiled by another coup!)
Plus Pres.Carter wanted to give the Panama Canal to the Panamanians.
I may be wrong but I believe there were accusations concerning the sabotage of Pres.Carter's attempt to free the hostages. It seems as if Pres.Carter would have been successful at freeing the hostages then Reagan would not have a chance to be elected.(I can't remember how many American Special Forces members died in the attempt to free the hostages but I do remember it being mentioned that the helicopters crashed because the nuts on the propellers were not tight.)
(That would be like you changing a tire on your car and forgetting to tighten the lug nuts.GIVE OUR TRAINED FIGHTING PERSONAL MORE CREDIT THAT,PLEASE.)
(As you can tell,I get a bit emotional about American politicians murdering Americans to win elections. My bad.)
P.S.I don't want to get too long winded but i just wanted to add that the Carter Asministration were surrounded by people that didn't like his'southern ways'.It seems as if they had to fight tooth and nail just to get the slightest amount of progress.
I need to take a heart pill so I'm going to stop now!.

He's not hated. Every poll suggests he is one of the most admired men in the world.

You are way off base on this one. All you're doing is projecting your own small little world of hatred. Most people think otherwise of Carter.

There are those scholars who have rightly criticized his presidency but that has nothing to do with people's respect for the man himself.

Ditto with Clinton, who is also much admired around the world.

If you want a poll result about a hated man, you need look no futher than any global poll about GW Bush.

Carter is the reason why Iran is a terrorist dictatorship. He goes over to Palestine and defend their anti-semitic, terrorist state while condemning the Jewish state of Israel. He went down to Venezuela to "overlook" the elections making sure they went by fine and smoothly, after that dictator Chavez was elected in and Carter is back in America, Carter all of a sudden comes out saying the elections did not run as smoothly as he said they did but he did not say anything because he didn't want to "upset the peace" that was down there surrounding the elections. That alone is why I don't like Carter and this is decades after his horrible one-term Presidency, with exception of his doings in Iran during his Presidency.

Actually, this's a reminder of how much and for how long (probably eternity ) bushy will stay the most hated in the whole wide world!

I'm not trying to defend Carter, even though, he did lot of good compare to this guy, but his incompetence is a fraction compare to "bush douche"!

Carter wasn't that bad. Are we going to judge Bush as harshly when he gets out of office, or are all the People he screwed over just supposed to be happy about what he has done and glad he's out of office? Compared to Bush, Carter was a great president.

Carter's only character flaw that led to all the "bad press" he has recieved is that he is A DECENT PERSON WHO TRIED LIKE HELL TO BUT HIS CHRISTIAN MORAL AND ETHICAL BELIEFS INTO PRACTISE UN-LIKE THAT WAR MONGERING BUSH WHO WEARS HIS FAITH ON HIS SLEEVE AND TURNS AROUND AND WAGES AN ILLEGAL WAR BASED UPON A PACK OF FILTHY LIES THAT HAS SEEN OVER 400,000 INNOCENT IRAQIS SLAUGHTERED.

Carter simply should never ever have run for President for it is simply axiomatic that one cannot be/act in conformity to Christian moral/etical codes period.

He is a perfect example of "GOOD GUYS FINISH LAST" and that lying, filthy war mongering abusers of patriotism and God always win.

What many of the yahoos reading this do not realize is that they are making a profound statement about THEMSELVES and their MORAL/ETHICAL bankrupcy when they abase Carter.

Birds of a feather and all that ..

He opposed the politicalization of the Southern Baptist Conference and he continued to push for a Palestinian state. The universal hatred that you speak of is mostly from the right.

2007-08-21 08:01:14 · answer #8 · answered by Anonymous · 2 1

I don't think he's universally hated. I think Carter's problem is that he is an incredibly nice person who is and remains incredibly bad at politics and diplomacy. He's extraordinarily intelligent, but extraordinarily foolish at the same time. I doubt you'd find one person would not like Carter personally, but despise his many political and diplomatic antics.

In America we tend to judge our elected officials by results.

Carter's results can be summed up in the phrase "misery index." Now, to be fair, the economy tanked because the policies that had been in place for a generation finally washed up on the beach, but Carter did nothing to change it and only continued the same policies.

Reagan reversed them, and since, unemployment and CPI have been less than half of their peaks.
