i need to replace my converter on my 1998 mazda 626 and was wondering if i need both front and back oxygen sensors or just one. if so what one do i need?

If it's 100,000 miles old, it would be a good idea. A bad O2 sensor can make the car run too rich and shorten the life of the cat.
You can get generic O2 sensors at Autozone for $60 or so.

Since the most probable cause of premature catalyst failure is an over rich condition, it is possible that you need an O2 sensor replacement. However, this can be tested and verified by a competent mechanic since there are other conditions that can result in an over rich condition.

Not really but if you won't o go right ahead , You are going to remove them any way just as well change them , hope this helps,
