i know i am going to get a lot of thumbs down and that is fine
when i was 16-32 i really thought that love could be a substitue for money. However it could be i never really found love or thought that someone loved me that didn't and it did turn out to be the case several times. However i am sure that my husband at some level does love me, be it not much anymore, it does not substitute money. Hear it is plain and simple to the truth. In an ideal world yes it would. When i was a romantic instead of a realist, before my daughter was born when it was just me and him and it didn't affect another person, yes it could. However when you bring a child into the picture it changes everything. Money becomes a focal point of life. I am sorry no amount of love can make up for not having enough space or a home that is secure enough or enough food or security. Only money can buy a secure home with food on the table. You can hug and hold each other all day long but that don't feed a hungry child's tummy. Not enough money causes fights and striff even in the strongest and best relationships. Reality is that love can not make up for what money brings. You have to have both to suceed.
i am a psy student and not a cynic but i live in reality.

It does not have to be a substitute. Love is very important, love will keep going until the day you die and beyond. Even if you have no money, if people TRULY love you, then it will make no difference . Money is important to be able to feed, to live, to pay for education, sadly, money makes the world go round, one can not live without it or they will starve, but neither can one live without love for again one will starve, from lack of affection. Money must not rule your life, it must be just used to live, Love must rule your life, for if one shares love with others then harmoney will be created and you will find that you will not starve from lack of food or love

If love was a substitute for money then one can be traded for the other. This is illegal in all of the US except for a few places in Nevada.

these are unrelated issues.... therefore cannot substitute each other! Just look at severely depressed millionaires and happy poor people! Vise verse is also true...
Note: one should also ask if romantic love and/or money are requirements for happiness?

No, money won't keep you warm at night or give you a hug when you need it. Money will never care about you and will never fill the empty place inside your heart. True love will.
