LOL, I think who you are as a person fluctuates on a daily basis, like gas prices or the value of a dollar. You may someday have an IDEA of who you are as a person, but you will never really 100% know yourself, because you're continually changing. I think what your therapist means is that you have to decide where you stand on certain issues or what makes you happy, sad, angry, etc. To do that, I suggest keeping a journal. You'll be surprised how much you'll learn about yourself by just writing down your thoughts. Oh, but you HAVE to read it back to yourself after you've written it to get the full idea of who you are. Luck!

Well the make up of a person is complex. The physical make up is the most obvious but probably the least fulfilling. Mentally a person is defined by the broad spectrum of knowledge or the concise expertise of a certain subject/topic. The spirit or soul of a person is the hardest part to define. The persons religous beliefs come into play. How a person treats other people, I believe, is a big part of that.

You probably should have asked them how to figure it out.
However, I think what defines me is my strength, both emotional and character, my sense of humor, my respect for nature.
What defines a person is sometimes what motivates them to do what they do, every day. How you interact with others, how you view the world.
Good luck figuring it out.
In the words of Drew Barrymore, in "Never Been Kissed"
"Find out who you are, and try not to be afraid of it"

You are defined by what you believe in. Search your own heart. Don't expect your psychologist to know your heart.
If you need a second opinion, pray for God's wisdom.
He knows you better than you know yourself.
He also LOVES you more than you love yourself.

The person you are is how you act and react to things, if you are Bipolar you may not even realize that you are doing something rude to someone that's how you could not know who you are, you could just tape everything you do and then see how you act but still if you have some kind of disorder you may never really know.

It's not who you are that defines you, it's what you do.
