movies and novels, but in reality most men are nothing like what we see and read. Is image that the movies and books portray making women raise their standards to high?

I see your point. You might say the same thing about men and porn. They expect women to be barbie doll bisexual big topped blonds with long red nails and insatiable desire levels.. Oh, and to bring home money, raise the kids, and clean the house...
Both sets of expectations are unrealistic.
At the best you get the stuff that's important to you, and your partner tries hard to be the fantasy for you when they can.
Bear in mind, I waited til my 3rd major relationship at 40 yrs old when I married a 46 yr old to find such a man. Sometimes they just have to mellow a bit :)

Laugh out LOUD!!!!! IF that was the case I am pretty sure I would be married right now. Romance doesn't really have anything to do with it anymore, if it did I would be married right now. You are right though about movies and novels making women raise their standards. What was the last movie you saw where a bum off the street got the hot chick, or last romance novel you read when the cripple gets the girl?
IT doesn't happen like that in media. So damned be us if it will happen in real life. No now most women won't even look at you if you don't own a car, or have nice cholthes on. If they do look at you its only to scoff and laugh at your plight in life. Even if that guy they are laughing at is the most romantic man on the planet because, he is wearing a stiched up pair of blue jeans a button up shirt he found in the trash, hes just a bum. That same bum could have a notebook with the most beautiful romantic poetry in the world in it. Most girls still wouldn't give him a chance.

Not that guys are much better, we don't really care for romance we just wanna get nasty and sweaty in your love box then roll over and fall asleep.

I think the movies and books are definately raising womens standards. Fifty years ago, we would see a lot of women doing all the cleaning, caring for the children, cooking, and taking care of their husband. Now days in the movies you see women attorney's or what have you...and their husbands are helping with everything. Leaving us women to want what we see in the movies.

i think of books and flicks supply unrealistic visions and expectancies of anybody in touch in a romantic interlude or a dating. I continuously enjoyed the affection-making scenes the place the couple is rolling all over the mattress with each and everything nevertheless "in place" - I even have not at all had that take place for authentic. LOL

I agree and disagree because there are some really good men in this world but they are rare. Good women are rare too! Actually the door swings both ways.

Unfortunately it's easy to be always romantic in a book or movie but painfully difficult in real life.

Same as men expecting women to be beautiful all the time...wearing revealing clothes...having babies....keeping the house clean....without ever being too tired to have sex.

It goes both ways....and it always will....LOL

I married a romantic. Actually he watches those kind of movies, too. That make him a great husband.
GOD BLESS
