At what age should a person be completely responsible for their living expenses?

I know there is a difference between American, European and other cultures (Middle Eastern) so would love to hear abt other opinions too.

I'm from the south in the states, and my oldest daughter just moved into her own apt.. at age 23. I moved into MY own apt at age 21.. and I have a friend who's 17 year old worked, got her GED, had her own apt, and drove a car she had paid for herself. Not everyone matures at the same rate, and what one 17 year old could do, another 21 year old could not. It all depends on the family, and the maturity of the one moving, I suppose.

It really depends on the individual. I got out of my parents house at 20 because I couldn't stand living there anymore. If a young person has a good relationship with their parents, staying and saving money is a really good idea.

Either when you go to college (18), or when you graduate from college (22).

If you don't go to college, you should get a job and be out of the house within 6 months of graduating from High School.

It's not more an issue of age than character. If you are pretty confident that you can stand on your own, can get a stable job, can make the right decisions, then go for it.

Some people are in their 40's yet can't stand on their feet. Ask yourself-----are you ready?

are you going to college? get a job? If you do not go to college and just want to leave at 18 and work then you should be able to support yourself right when you leave the house. If you can't take out some loans and get your butt in college!

in USA, you have to be 18 to be free from any sort of gardien. if you are younger you can get yourself emanciapated from your parents, but you have to get a new gaurdien.
When my father was 17 he started paying rent to live in his own home, but my mother lived with her parents while she was going to college until she was about 22. My parents will always be there if i need them, but i'm well aware i'm not getting a free ride out of them.

About 22, if you have a steady income. I think 22 is good, that gives you enough time to go to college, if you'd like, and that also gives you enough time to work and save up.

18 or Nineteen because you need about a year or 2 after you graduate highschool to find a place to live and can support yourself and maybe a family if you have one
