The Bush administration
did not prepare for occupation,
did not plan for the looting,
sent in political/loyalist appointees to run things for which they had no experience or knowledge,
sent in too few troops,
gave those brave kids inferior materiel and armor,
got rid of the Iraq army which then took up arms against US forces,
and on and on.
The US will recover respect in about 50 years, and we will still be paying for this wrong war not only in money but in the astronomical costs to the wounded, maimed, and mentally destroyed US troops who were so brave and so badly used by this president.

Poor planning and poor execution led by an idiot (meaning Rumsfeld)! Whether or not we recover respect really isn't a big issue to me. I would rather have the American population respect our government (and that means the government needs to change the way they do things) than worry about other countries.

Cheney and Rumsfeld were itching for a war before they retired. They thought they could kick butt in Iraq and look like heroes, but the opposite was the truth. Iraq kicked out butts with guerrilla style warfare, and Cheney and Rumsfeld look like Beavis and Butthead at the cost of billions of dollars and the cost of our nations respect.

Wrong, wrong and wrong.
Iraq is not occupied. The US is there at the request of the Iraq government.
There is no total disaster. Even the most left wind of the liberal loonies has been admitting that the military is succeeding.
I don't care if people in other parts of the world respect or don't respect the US. It means nothing. Just do not mess with us. I think I smell a liberal.

Bush went with the Rumsfeld Doctrine of 'Shock and Awe' rather than the Powell Doctrine of Overwhelming Force.
