They may be just trying to intimidate you or harrass you. Is it small claims court? Is it in the courthouse at at their place of business. If you have the money, and the bill is fair, pay it. If not contact an attorney.
PS: It is possible to negotiate these bills. Especially if they have tacked on things which are unreasonable, offer to pay 60% of it, that's what a collection charges them anyway.

If it's a summons to appear make sure you appear or they could issue a warrant for your arrest.

The date and address of where you have to appear should be on the summons

you have to respond to all the allegations to the complaint or they are considered confirmed.
usually, they have numbered paragraphs - you answer to each one either agreeing or denying to it.
