Yes, the Doctor will need to check your uterus by inserting fingers and pushing down on your lower abdomen. He will also check your ovaries during this process. It is not painful just a little uncomfortable and yes embarassing. But realize this is part of participating in your own health. Ask lots of questions and even though you are embarassed.be proud that you are a woman. It doesn't hurt to take someone with you, your Mom or a best friend to hold your hand they don't see anything. Good Luck

Yes, but if you're nervous about it, maybe you can change your physician to a female doctor. If you don't know how to change your dr (im not sure how old you are) then ask one of your parents to do it for you.
A female doctor might make you feel more comfortable.

Also, most physicians are really good at making the patient feel comfortable. It's really not all that bad, they deal with these things on a daily basis... just remember, they know what their doing and they are there to help you.

Hope everything's ok!

Probably, yes. It depends on what your problem is, though.

It's good to get checked out once a year anyway, and it's really not a big deal at all. It doesn't take very long.

If you're concerned, just let your doctor or nurse practitioner that you're nervous, and you can also ask them to use a smaller speculum if they'll be using one.

Most likely...but don't be nervous about that! I know it seems weird and freaky but remember...ALL women have to do that in order to prevent major issues. You're not the only one who has to swallow their pride and just do it...and every woman feels the same way about it at first. Take charge of your health now, and don't be embarrassed...because A) like I said...all women do this, and B) it's MUCH better to prevent a problem or catch one early, than it is to wait until it's done major damage.

If you go for a gynecological problem, you get a gynecological exam. Please do not let this keep you form seeing you physician. Go to see a female if a male makes you uncomfortable.

I assure you that the exam is purely professional, and, contrary to some Yahoo! Answers members, the male doctors are not perverts there for their own fun.

Unfortnuately....your doctor won't just dive into the situation though...they will also have a consult with you to ask you questions about the issue...make sure to come prepared with questions.

yes it is called a pap test.

he will insert this contraption and maybe scrape your uterine walls with a little scraper and check it under the scope for any health problems.

hopefully he will be gentle and fast.
