I don't think organized religion or it's followers are evil per-say, just misguided and wasting so much time and energy.
However the extremists, regardless of which religion, need to be stopped and should be handled by the leaders of each religion.

Honestly we are close to having to be like japan and limit the number of babies people have ... Christians and Catholics are perhaps the worst about this , and totally oblivious
(lets face it, the Inquisitions make the Nazi's look like wimps, and the Muslim extremist look like pacifists)
I meet allot of Atheists these days as well, science is clearly the best tool we have for facts ... honestly I feel religion is on the decline
