Vinegar is the answer you are looking for. Unlike bleach it does not leave a lingering smell, but is very effective in reducing mold buildup in showers etc and over time will actually remove mold.

Remember that mold grows and feeds off of moisture. Get a dehumifier and put it near the mold. It will dry out the mold and then spray straight vinegar on a test spot. The acid in vinegar will kill mold as well. The smell will go away quickly.

use an anti-microbial. there are three elements that mold needs to grow they are heat, darkness, and moisture. eliminate one and it will stop the growth. easiest one is moisture. get a dehumidifier if in basement or a fan for the bath these are the most common places that mold is found.

problably the best solution is to scrap it off or hire someone to scrape it off but if not you might have to take the wall out (or a part) and replace it
