Anyone who knows me will tell you my personal number one choice is a small, intimate Italian restaurant in the North End -- Pomodoro's -- followed by B&G Oysters in the South End for seafood, and Amhrein's in South Boston for plain old good food. A casual South Boston is to go Castle Island and take a a stroll around Fort Independence. While you are there get a bit to eat at Sullivan's.

Pomodoro
319 Hanover St, Boston

B & G Oysters

Amrheins
80 West Broadway
South Boston, MA, 02127

Sullivan's
2080 Day Blvd
South Boston, MA 02127

They don't have their own website, but go to yelp for some great reviews.

Hmmmm ok let me delve into my bag of yummies here:

*Carlos Cuccina in Allston has THE BEST gnocchi for italian (other than the north end of course)
oh and if you go to the north end eat at
*Lucia's (its at the opposite end of the hustle and bustle...)Then after dinner you MUST hit
*Mike's pastry. they're pastries are ridiculous. or
*Finale (dessert) or
*Athans (dessert)
*Anna's taqueria which are mainly in Brookline and Allston (i think?) is the best quick cheap mexican. Or
*Sol Azteca is more of a sit-down mexican restaurant (Beacon st)
*Kaya for sushi in cambridge (porter square) or
*Fugakyu (sushi)
*Redbones for BBQ in somerville
*Tapeo on newbury street has great tapas
*Smith and Wollensky's (on Stuart st i think?) has the best crab cakes I've ever eaten. steaks/seafood too $$
*Abe an Louies (on Boylston) has great steaks/seafood $$
*Lemongrass (Brookline) has excellent thai food. I have also heard good things about
*Brown sugar for thai.
*No name restarant is on the wharf and they have some famous seafood. Yum. (literally called "no name")
*Chinatown for....well.. dim sum, chinese, etc. or you can try
*P.F. Chang's for a more of a fusion type asian meal.
Lastly,
*Zaftigs is a great delicatessen (brookline) :)

- I hope this helps. I love food and I've eaten at all of these restaurants and highly recommend them!
