That is a REALLY hard question to answer because there are a lot of answers. The real question, is what do YOU want to do in WoW?
The choices are...
Tank - Warrior
Healer - Priest
Buffs - Priest and Paladin
Debuffs - Warlock
Damage over time - Warlock
Nuke damage - Mages
Damage per second - Rouge or Warlock
Pets - Hunter or Walock
Melee Damage - Rouge or Warrior
Ranged Damage - Hunter, Mage, or Warlock
A little of everything - Druids, Paladins or Shamans
Solo - Anyone can solo, just some can do it at higher levels than others
Partying - Priests can always get into groups, and every group wants a Warrior.
Profession - Race matters more than class in professions.
I presonally have enoyed the Warrior, Rouge and Warlock classes. My brother swears by Hunters, and rarely plays anything else.

That's like asking what the best color is...
However, if you've played fantasy/ rpg games before, here are some things to consider.
1: what would you consider "best". Solo, group role, dps, tanking, magic?
2: Fun is subjective, but I really like the shaman and the paladin. Both are fun and versatile.
3: learn from the other games you play. If you like to go in the middle of action, then you automatically know that you wont want to play some classes.
4: WoW tries to balance the classes, but some are still overpowered.
5: Dont play WoW, play LotRO, it's a hell of a lot more fun... :)
I quit WoW and I now play LotRO... I like it a lot better, not as much stuff to do yet, but it's still a pretty new game.

well, it's all about playing style: if you like to be the one who goes forth in battle and hits hard with sheild and weapon, than it's warrior for you. If you like to sneak and backstab, it's rogue. If you like to use spells to do heavy damage, you should be a mage or a warlock (many say it's the meanest class in the game) and if you like to stand back and take care of everyone by healing them, I suggest priest. If you like bows and guns and having a pet to help, get a hunter. But if you're just starting out and don't know which one you like, try a hybrid (paladin, shaman). They will give you the chance to try both damage and healing, weapons and spells and help u make up your mind...

each individual has their own opinion of what the "terrific" is. I recommend making a some diverse instructions, enjoying them to point 15-20 and identifying what you like terrific. Delete those which you do in comparison to.

Well, it kinda depends. Me, I only play on the horde side, cause we stomp on the alliance every time. Those dirty cowardly dogs.
