Alex Rodriguez
Albert Pujols
Derek Jeter
Miguel Cabrera
Jake Peavy
Jose Reyes
Brandon Webb
Vladamir Guerrero
Alfonso Sorriano
Chase Utley
The closer to the players rookie season typically has the most value. Unless the player has a monster year (i.e. Alex Rodriguez 2007).
Good luck

Rookie cards are good if the rookie ends up being a heckuva player. Try to get Cameron Maybin of the Detroit Tigers, or Andrew Miller, again with the Detroit Tigers. Delmon Young of Tampa Bay could be good.
I have Dave Winfield, Mike Schmidt, and Barry Bonds' rookie cards, and they are the cards that have appreciated the most.
Unfortunately, baseball cards aren't a real good way to make any type of investment anymore because if a person wanted any of the players I just mentioned, all they have to do is go on-line and get them. When I was a kid, you had one way of getting baseball cards, ya went down to the party store and bought a pack, and hoped like heck that Reggie Jackson would be in there.
I got lucky once, and got Reggie Jackson (no, you can't have it!).
Good Luck!

Chase Utley, David Wright, Alex Rodriguez, Magglio Ordonez, Jake Peavy, Cole Hamels, Derek Jeter, Chipper Jones, Ben Sheets, Albert Pujols, Johan Santana, Ryan Howard, Valdimir Guerrero, Manny Ramirez, Jimmy Rollins, Matt Holiday, Jason Bay (very underrated), Brian McCann, and many many others. you should really be putting all of your baseball cards in protective covers. they sell binders that have a slot for each card that i recomend you buy.
