I had a strange experience in the form of a very vivid dream a few weeks ago, and I have been trying to figure out what it means. I don't know if I need a psychic or a parapsychologist! If anyone can help or offer any advice I would be so grateful.

My grandmother died very suddenly on July 19th of this year from a heart attack. I was very close to her, and we had a very good relationship. On August 7th, I dreamed that I was in her back yard, and she walked out of her house carrying a tray of soda. I saw her coming and ran up to her to grab the tray. She insisted she was fine and, after setting the tray down, grabbed me by the hand and said "Come here, I have to show you something". I followed her back into the house, and sat at the kitchen table. She stood next to me, over my left shoulder with her hand on the back of the chair. It was then that I remembered that she was no longer living, and I looked at her and touched her face. She looked so good, much younger than she did when she died and so happy. She was smiling so much, and her face was filled with so much light. It's very hard to explain, but everything was so vivid and real, and I was just so happy to see her. I stood up and gave her the biggest hug ever, and I could literally smell her perfume and feel the hair on the back of her neck. She looked at me, still smiling, as she took a few steps and grabbed her purse. She pulled out a calendar and pointed at a date, which I couldn't see from where I was sitting, and told me "This is the day, don't forget". I asked her, "Don't forget what Grandma", and she repeated, "Don't Forget!!".

That's when I woke up. The dream was so real I could literally still smell her perfume. I felt like I had just been with her. That whole day I racked my brain trying to figure out what I was forgetting. The entire day I double checked everything! On the way home from work I was telling my husband how I had gone over everything and couldn't figure out it I was forgetting anything. Suddenly, he remembered that it was my sisters birthday!! I had completely forgotten!!

I'm so confused as to what this means. I honestly feel like I was with her, but is that possible? Is there another dimension here on earth for people who die, and can we enter it? Or was this all made up by my brain to ease my grieving in some way? This was the first dream I have had of her since her death. Will I see her again??

You had a dream about your grandmother, with whom you were close. It would be more surprising if you *hadn't* dreamed of her. It seemed real because as far as your brain was concerned it was real. There doesn't have to be anything supernatural about it. You're just remembering someone you cared for very much.

I had a vivid dream the other night where I was a soldier in Iraq. Children were shooting at me with AK-47s. I was either unable or unwilling to return fire. I woke up with my heart pounding and it seemed very real at the time. That doesn't mean I was actually in Iraq. It simply means that my brain went in a particular direction and I awoke before I was able to forget it and move on to another strange scenario.

Your dream about your Grandmother, not necessarily your Grandmother, but then who really knows, was telling something else when the phrase 'don't forget' was spoken.
You have to come to the understanding that all people's dreams tell themselves more about who they are than other people, even our most loved ones, will ever tell us.

In an opposite way, they tell us who we as Americans are, or who we as Chicago flatlanders are or hillbillies or whatever.
That is because we rarely achieve our dreams, and society is the most fundamental reason why. Conformance, safety, health, ... just all the overhead and burden of the collective.

So in a way, your dream is a great achievement for you. It is telling you that in the world you live in, that there are few people as talented and unique as you are at the kind of living, the forms and relations like those you saw in 'the dream'. It was your dream. You have to look a long way for anyone who would have a similar one. Similar, yes, but the point is many people are more unique in how they see the world than they ever get credit for, or give themselves recognition for, and if conditions and time and money allowed, how they could interact with our world and in your case others; family, friends.
And paranormal or not, what could be better than that?

Hard to explain if such events are real, or just our minds playing games in our sleep. Here's my experience on this:

A co-worker named Paul passed away around a year ago. I knew him, but not as close friends. Anyways, most people went to the funeral, but I did'nt. About a week after his death, I had a dream of appearing in a beautiful park. There were flowers, trees, etc. everywhere. There were also many people walking, talking, laughing, and just relaxing and having a good time. I then saw my co-worker, Paul. I called out to him. He came over to where I was at. I then said, "I thought you were dead." He said, "naw....I'm fine." Then of any question I could have asked, I asked him this question..."what did you think of the funeral?" He responded, "it was pretty good." That's when it ended and I woke up.
Strange dream. I still don't know why I didn't ask him something more pertinent, like "what is this place?" or "is this heaven?" I did tell some other co-workers about the dream and told them that Paul is doing just fine. Maybe that was the whole message of the dream.
Could be something to this, like your dream. Hopefully there is a great place waiting for us after this life.

There have been accounts of spirits communicating with the living through dreams in numerous sources including Native American cultures and in the Bible. The tricky part of these types of communications is determining whether they are actually dreams or whether it is a spirit communication.

What you described sounds very much like a spirit communication to me based on your impressions of her appearance and the straightforward communication that you had with her. Dreams tend to be much more confused and haphazard, but actual communication is much more like percieving an event that is happenning.

There are ways to test. If you become aware that you are dreaming while you are dreaming, try to change something about the person you are visiting with. If it is a dream, you should be able to change their hair color. If it's not a dream, you probably won't be able to change them.

Whether it was a dream or an actual spiritual contact, it sounds like you had a very pleasant visit. Take that good feeling and the information that you got from the experience and savour it. It is wonderful to remember those who touched your life. You can learn a lot from your grandmother and the legacy that she left you. Allow yourself to enjoy the memory of the experience and help the spirit of your relationship with her to continue to live within you. Enjoy!

I had a similar dream after my grandpa passed. I didn't get to spend alot of time with him and I did in my dream. I have had only two in 2 years. The first was the night after the burial. We spent time together and he stopped and told me that, "He was ok there and everything was the way that he thought it would be." I feel in my heart that it was really him and I know that it was, but if you are having difficulty having that belief then think of it as your grandma putting your mind at ease. I have not cried or gotten depressed since that night because I know that my grandpa is ok and he is not in pain anymore. the second dream, we just spend time together. God is great and heaven is the one place that my grandpa deserves to be and for that I am not worried because he is well taken care of there. Just Believe!!!

Dreams often reflect what you've been thinking about lately. You obviously were thinking a lot about your grandmother, and so you had a dream about her. Not unusual. You wouldn't find this remarkable if you had been, say, studying to take the SATs and then had a dream where you were sitting in the exam room looking at the test booklet. But because there's so much emotional investment in this case, and you miss your grandmother, you want to make it something more - you want to believe that your grandmother is coming back from the dead to tell you something or demonstrate her love, or let you demonstrate your love. But, sadly, it's just a dream, and your grandmother isn't actually watching over you from beyond the grave.

That sounds like a beautiful and comforting dream. The dream was certainly real. Let me ask: What would be different for you in your life if you knew your grandmother contacted you through a dream?
Is it possible: Not according to conventional science,
Yes, according to many religious beliefs that
are shared by a great many scientist.
Dimensions: Certainly other dimensions have been
discussed from string theory to quantum
physics. We don't even know how to observe
these other dimensions much less enter
them OR we may be in all of them right now
and just not know it.
Grieving: This is certainly one possibility and one that
conventional science would more readily accept.
What you choose to believe is up to you.
Seeing her again: Complete unknown.

FYI: Sadly the best book on this subject (my opinion of course) was written back in 1901 shortly before science retreated to labs. "Human Personality and It's Survival of
Bodily Death" by FWH Myers.

Many people would agree that your dream was your unconcious mind coping with the death of a loved one- however,Carl Jung, a famous phycologist had a theory of the "collective unconscious"
which to me explained eveything from ghosts to many kinds of esp.
Most connections to the collective unconscious (that we remember) happen to us when we are sleeping, and our conscious is inactive.

The collective unconscious can be emotions, experiences or memories that
are not necessarily your own.

Google the theory for a better explanation of it- I think you will find it will
ease your mind- because it is not based on any religious belief.

Yes I've had a similar experience. There are several deminsions that co-exsist on this planet at one time. And sometimes we do inter mix its called trans channeling. Theres a great book called Astral Dynamics and it speaks of all the different dinemsions. also a website 2012 theres some great articles on the different dinemsions. Please try to read up on this very interesting.

Hello,, if the easing of the grief did happen ,then believe it will happen again. If the pain you felt within you subsided why do you ask for it to return? You have my sympathy for the passing of your Grandmother, but she will always be with you in spirit . Just smile and let her know you are aware of your surroundings and ask her simply for some brightness to be shown to you.Take a flower to her gravesite and be happy for her visit to you.(poetry.com+lament to bro.ped)
