check the starter if it makes a clicking sound than its definitely the starter

Try this. Get a $2 can of starting fluid and spray it into the carburetor or throttle body. If this gets it to fire and run for a few seconds, then you are not getting fuel and you most likely have a bad fuel pump.

If is does not fire or run at all, then you are not getting any spark. Remove the distributor cap and crank is while someone watches the rotor to see if it spins. If the rotor does not spin then the teeth on the timing gear on the camshaft are chewed off and you'll need a new timing set.

Not knowing the year, make, and model or mileage this is a good place to start.

Does it crank over?
Does it catch and then die?
Is there just a clicking noise?

You might check and make sure you are getting fuel to your engine.
