Isn't it all about convincing people? The repubs want to convince people through hatred and fear...liberals try to convince people through understanding and respect.

Yes, traditionally ideals are a way of thinking about society and the world. What are your ideals, if they don't involve thinking?

HERE ARE JUST TWO OF THE MANY REASONS
"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority." - G.W. Bush, 3/13/02 ...
U.S. FEDERAL DEBT

That’s $47,000 per adult in the u.s.
That’s $94,000 per married couple
That could be the ave increased tax burden over years
209,279,149 U.S. adults by 2000 Census
BIG DEFICITS ALWAYS = BIGGER TAXES
“Raising tax revenues to cover projected government spending would require today’s
tax levels to increase by a third to a half by 2030,
depending on the growth of health care costs.”
- America’s Economy: Headed for Crisis, The Brookings Institute, 2007
JAN 19 2001 $5,727,776,738,304.64
Jan 20 1993 $4,188,092,107,183.60

Dude, you never even hint as to how "liberals" think. In my opinion, the problem starts with the divisive terms "liberal" and "conservative". For anyone to claim exclusivity of one of these trains of thoughts, then that person has automatically constrained themselves, to their own detriment.
For example, the political parties. Democraps will claim to be against the Repukelicans, and vice versa, when in reality, both the Dems and Reps prefer to take special interest, big business and any other source of money, and create laws and regulations that go in the direct opposite of the best interests of the Citizens of the United States of America.
By creating simple distractions, such as immigration, flag burning, separation of church and State, abortion, drug/crime, war, etc..those already in power in the US Government (regardless of Dem or Rep) work to consolidate their pseudo-power, by rigging the rules and elections. By forcing those who run for office to HAVE to raise millions, BOTH PARTIES ensure that the MAJORITY WORKING CLASS/POOR, are somehow REPRESENTED by the elite/rich.
To me, and most freethinking individuals, this is not only counterproductive, but downright stupid. I have never been affiliated with either party, nor any party, and until this year, I would remain independent.
However, after listening to the poli-tards from both sides, I am about to revise my voter registration and enter the Republican party, ONLY TO VOTE FOR RON PAUL.
RON PAUL IS THE ONLY HOPE FOR AMERICA IN 2008.

Why do conservatives think this way?
What is the problem with conservatives?
Why do they think that?
Conservatives seem to think that their conservative ideals are their way of thinking about society and the world. What's the deal with that???

Because we do. Just as Libertarians and Conservatives see the world and society through their filters...so do liberals.
There's really nothing strange about that. We all filter the world around us based on our preconceived notions and ideas. Sometimes we are right and sometimes we are wrong.

uh...maybe you can be a little more specific. Especially considering that most political scientists that study ideology would consider American Republicans to be liberals. So maybe you could specify what thought you find so unnerving.
