Well, I think this can be related to group psychology: if a person belonging to a group sees that the members of that group are regarded in a negative way by the community or society and might even end up sharing this point of view, he/she will be tempted to leave that group and find a more prestigeous one. But when it comes to race, leaving the group is difficult, as you can't hide who you are and you will still be associated with that group because of your distinctive traits (while, if you are, say, a punker and decide you want to stop, you can just take off your piercings and spikes...). I think there are still disadvantaged races, but happiness is, in many cases, a matter of perspective on life. There are young, rich, educated, beautiful white people who are suicidal and there are sick, poor, old, ugly black or asian people who feel happy and fulfilled in their lives...

being black, from a well to do family and completely happy being a trust fund baby, I would say no. being an unwed Latino woman with two kids on welfare living in the ghetto I would say yes. Personally, I am a white woman from a wealthy area. I have chosen to live in "squalor" because I have no need for things to be happy. But this "lot" is my choice, having nothing to do with race. I can't be sure. I don't teach my son to be prejudice. In my neighbourhood we don't see hate crimes or racism. It is only a value that has to be learned, and reinforced to exist.

No...Is race affecting your happiness? Everyone, no matter the color or DNA combination, incur failure. I perceive that racism continues to exist. My pollyanna mentality believes that, as long as people have low self esteem, racism will be practiced. Only on an individual level.

Being my race ( black) has never affected me in being me and me being around other race. I am a person that enjoy living life to the fullest and can relate to people of all background that can mingle with me and sometimes i even become colorblind around my friends of other races.
Discrimination is what is affecting happiness, but not race .

we are too much me me me ; everyone has the opportunity to change things with perseverance; the history book is full of people who didn't and wouldn't take no for an answer; if you look to help mankind, most people would be better off; it is how you choose to judge your lot in life as to what is important; we are the author of our life; don't like it change it , don't complain about it; if you don't tend a garden, you get weeds; we didn't have money growing up and we are white, I worked 3 jobs at times, paid for college slowly as I could and tried and tried - we have too much feeling sorry for me me me; the world can always use hands to help others no matter what color, creed , gender etc; you want change , you work for it; you want a better life, you work for it etc

If you live in a place where people of your heritage are persecuted, I imagine it would. Otherwise, I think happiness is a product of your own perception of things, not your race.

I don't think so. Who you are and how you give respect, effects happiness.
