I don't "believe in" biological evolution any more than I "believe in" photosynthesis. I KNOW about such natural processes because I have studied the overwhelming scientific evidence supporting and explaining them.

First off the question asks Why do you believe in Evolution, not why do you disagree with evolution. Don't bother answering in Science and Mathmatics if your answer is not based on Science and Mathmatics.

I never was overly religous, but still a believer in God and Jesus all that good stuff. So there was never a huge religous belief holding me back. I learned about some evolution in 6th grade. Just the basics natural selection. Then i learned some more in 9th grade, still very basic, Darwin's finches. So i would say that i would have accepted the Theory, but not with any real knowledge of it. Then i took AP bio where i actually learned about evolution. What it composes of what the proof of it is. This coupled with reading "The Language of God" (a book about theistic evolution, which is still evolution but saying it was God's way of making man). Also i was taking Ap physics at the same time so i learned about fundamental particles and reseached the big bang. So i came to accept both theories, with knowlege on both. Then i became a biologist (even though i didn't take an evolution class in college). I saw evolution in genetics at least and saw how integral a part of genetics it was. So i accept the theory.

The Theory of Evolution is not something you "believe in", like a fairy tale. It is derived from decades worth of biological research, and more recently, a huge amount of genetic research. Many scientists would go a step further and say Evolution is not a theory, it is a fact. The problem here is that evolution is a difficult thing to test, given that it has been happening over billions of years. Basically, we would need a time machine to be 100% sure about evolution. Instead, we are 99.9% sure, and that .01% is what keeps evolution a theory, and not a fact.

Evolution is not a "belief", it's a scietific theory that has been tested many times over. You can believe in god and still accept the theory of evolution. Think of how creatures have evolved even in a couple of centuries. People are taller than in the 1700's when the average height of a woman was only 5 feet tall. We adapt and evolve gradually, you can see it between generations. There's no reason to think that we didn't come from somewhere. Even if you are a creationist you have to accept that Adam and Eve did not look like we do today....the human race has evolved.

There is a disturbing trend of scientists, teachers, and students coming under attack for expressing support in the theory of intelligent design, or even just questioning evolution. The freedom of scientists, teachers, and students to question Darwin's theory, or to express alternative scientific hypothesis is coming under increasing attack by people that can only be called Darwinian fundamentalists.”

Expelled is a disturbing new documentary that will shock anyone who thinks all scientists are free to follow the evidence wherever it may lead.

I don't "believe" in the Theory of Evolution. I accept it as a valid scientific theory based on decades of data and experiments.

God, god, Goddess, etc are not mutually exclusive concepts with evolution. they are not related at all.

The sooner you figure that out...the better the world will be.
