Ever since we have had our last child 3 years ago, our sex life is not the same. We have sex an average amount, but I usually am not in the mood. I work 1st shift and he works 2nd during the school year, so I though I was just tired, but we are both here all summer and things still are the same. I have put on weight and feel uncomfortable could that be whats up? I really don't want to go see a counselor since we cannot go together, I just want my sex drive back!

See your doctor first and tell her that you are struggling with these issues. Often diet (more green beans and bananas, less caffeine and sugar, for example), sleep, and mild exercise are all that's needed. Sometimes, there is a hormonal deficiency that can be corrected. If you are on birth control pills or other hormonal birth control, that could be part of the problem. Tubal ligations have also been know to cause a drop in libido.

Once you get the physical things worked out, you should see an improvement. If not, you can consider any potential emotional causes. Perhaps because you work opposite shifts, there isn't enough of the physical affection that you need (hugs & kisses, etc.) to prepare for sex. Or maybe it's a sense of lack of privacy, lack of time or poor body image.

Take each issue one by one and conquer it. And communicate with your husband -- let him know that you're not feeling very frisky these days and you're trying to fix it. You'd be amazed at how that might encourage him to help in whatever ways he can.

You have to work on it together. Lose a bit of weight, do things wih your husband, rekindle some romance. Have sex anyway - don't let it slide.
