Let me start off by saying I work in and eye doctor's office so I interact with all kinds of people. Today and older gentleman comes in and he did not have an appointment scheduled though he said he did. I checked and saw it was August 2 not 21 at 11:30. He was all defensive saying I was not even around the beginning of this month and saying why would someone write 21 on the card when it was on the 2nd. Well when we write the appt. date on the card we put slashes in between (like this 8/2/07). I think he probably mistaked the slash for a 1 which I didn't say to him though. But, he wants to make it like it was my fault when clearly on the card from the last time he was in, in January I wrote down the date as 8/2/07. It was even booked in the computer at that date and time.

Yeah, I completely understand your frustration. People drive me crazy all the time. I think when dealing with older people though they do feel insecure. They can't hear and see as good anymore, they lose their train of thought. But they have been on this earth awhile and they don't want a girl telling them that they are wrong. I just wish I didn't get so frustrated with my grandmother before she died.
But I would have just told the man the truth that the one was actually a slash and next time you will write it out 8-2-07 so he doesn't get confused. It's not your fault he can't read.

Some people can be very annoying...I work at a credit union in the collections department and just imagine how people react when I call them to ask them to pay! LOL
It's difficult dealing with people...that's why I got a second dog..LOL...I love my dogs, seriously, they're so nice all the time, doesn't matter if I'm upset or whatever, they're ALWAYS NICE!...get a dog! be a vet! I'm thinking into studying to be a vet :)
Actually, the best way to handle these people is to be NICE all the time, no matter how they treat you, don't even take it personal, because they're just taking their anger out on you...it doesn't have anything to do with you. I don't take it personal and I always treat them right, then they calm down by just listening to my tone of voice and my manners...and of course, when they feel I'm totally understanding what they're saying. It's about being patient and calm.

This is precisely why I do NOT wortk with the general public. It will make you lose your appreciation for people. I work from home, hubby and I run our own business, and I can't tell you how many times he gets mad at me when I avoid dealing with clients (which is supposed to be his job anyway!!). So, I think its pretty normal to feel that way. As long as you are 'nice' on the outside, when on the inside you're imagining hitting them over the head with a mallet or handing out rude idiot cards for free.

I love people. I have a gift to be able to smile when I actually want to stangle someone. That is why I made an awsome waitress. And Now I make a wonderful EMT.

Yes. Me too. I hate dealing with rude and annoying people such as my college teachers, principals, administrative personnel and some classmates, and of course, some relatives.
Some people came into this world only to annoy and disturb others, or to get in the way of others imposing their points of view to others.

I hate dealing with people too. Part of my job is calling customers who are late paying their bills. They act like I'M the bad guy.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. The more I people I know, the more I like my dog.

I do sometimes, because everyone takes their anger out on you....
you need a relaxation treatment
bubble bath
candles
message
incense
soft music
and then you will feel refreshed....
good luck...=-)
