Oh, we're all mad here. I'm mad; you're mad... Why else would we all come here thinking we could get all our answers at random from random people?
Anyhow, China is probably on to the new form of vassalism: national indebtedness. The real threat will come if we end up being lousy about making our payments. Then the question is what is held in collateral? My guess is currency value and allowing the printing of US dollars. Bet that could screw up our economy, huh?
Air pollution? As if we were the ones to talk about it? HA! Good one!
Hmm... Without any massive armies, navies, air forces, or missile stocks of our own... Oh, wait, we have those. Doh!

Yes, they do pollute, but most companies established in China are either Americans, Europeans, Canadians or Japanese... So in fact it is OUR companies that are polluting because China lax environmental rules have attracted them... I guess our multinational just don`t have any kind of green consciousness.
As for their military, Chinese navy is almost non-existant, and with all the coast they have, they really need something that look like a navy. And the missiles, most of them are to scared Taiwan from separating. And has your fear of China, well they are much more scared of the US than the US is affraid of them, its why they think that buying US gov securities will protect them from American interventions in the region...
China is one of the oldest civilization in the world, and you think they would have survived being plain stupid? They have trouble keeping China together, and civil unrest is at the door once again, China is much more preocupied by their internal stability than beating a neighbor... So you can sleep on it, nothing will happen, unless the US makes the first move...

I think China is our greatest ally and our own unlimited government chasing down popular but illogical plans is the greatest threat.
1.2 trillion in securities allows us to finance our debt incurring lifestyle without destroying the value of the dollar (as much). If you think the dollar is falling now, imagine if China wasn't there to buy up the debt.
Pollution - yeah, that stinks. Pretty bad no doubt, not good for us or them or anyone really.
Armies Missiles etc - are being aimed at ex-French colonies we haven't show any interest in. We're taking over the old English colonies and parts of the old Russian sphere of influence and not saying a word when China expands its military and economic power.
Looks to me like top-level cooperation.

Read a report of China's build up. in the Air Force Association by Richard Halloran.
Titled
"China Stands Up
It's time to stop wondering if China is a military danger. Its buildup answers that questions for anyone who had an honest doubt."

I have little concern that China is a physical threat to the U.S.; it makes no sense to me that they will "attack" us when they, for all practical purposes, OWN us. Additionally, the U.S. is by far China's largest trading partner, and by that I mean that we are the largest consumer of Chinese-made goods.
I heartily believe that China will be our financial downfall. We simply canNOT keep sending U.S jobs there and expect that there will continue to be a market for all those goods; who's gonna be left to buy them? Our society can only support just so many service industry and high-tech jobs. With the fall of our manufacturing comes the fall of our middle class. And when the middle class is gone, there will remain only the very wealthy and the poor, which if my historical knowledge is correct, ultimately leads to Revolution.
I look forward to it.

have to say no - China is only a threat to Taiwan and I predict they will take it in a matter of 3 or 4 years time , then yes they will be a threat .
China is smart here however , they are preparing themselves for anything and want to be a superpower , however they must go threw another revolution for this to happen or ease existing communist laws and ways because I don't see them surviving being a superpower with wages less then a 3rd of what we pay illegal immigrants .

No I don't agree. China has never been through out its entire History an agrresive nation. Its the reason China does not build Aircraft Carriers .Perhaps maybe the Taiwan thing could make them a threat but for the most part I just don't think so. What other reason does China have to be our enemy?? None that I can think of.
I think Pakistan is the biggest threat followed by Russia

Or course - but we have a government more concerned about the security issue of my shoes at O'Hare than owing the Chinese so much money that our future is not longer in our hands to control. So the real threat is really a broken corrupt political system and a population containing a high percentage of morons.

Wow John J, very deep, incredibly like, makes you think of... yet heavily, this question is kinda great for this variety of internet site. notwithstanding, Noth Korea is attempting out ICBMs that could desire to potentialy attain Alaska and Hawaii so it incredibly is feasable that they could hit the rustic with a nuclear warhead in the subsequent decade. yet they probable won't, with the entire M.A.D.(mutualy certain destruction) difficulty. Basicly because of the fact the terrific militia power in the worldwide the only actual probability the rustic has are financial ones and guerrila and terrorist militia ones. to veda: Yeah now that the US militia in hassle-free terms has like 12000 nuclear warheads and consumes greater money than the mixed GDP of something like the botton a million/2 of each u . s . in the worldwide the US is almost a toddler vs paintshaker.
