I have a dry sharp and sometimes very dark sense of humour which sometimes takes a train of thought to work out what I have said. I find that this is not always "got" by people.(It does involve a element of sarcasm at times) I don't like the obvious, slapstick, or having to use foul language to get a laugh. What makes you laugh? Do you think humour differs in other countries? (I am English)

Yes I think working with people who are ill could make a difference, also my best friend and his other friends are gay, and their humour effects mine as well

People rarely get my jokes but they seem to enjoy the seemingly random comments I make. I don't care anymore, I get a kick out of my own jokes. Maybe that's a bit sad, but it makes me happy.

Ok, so my sense of humor is a little weird. I will get tickled in the strangest places. Any place that you are suppose to be quiet I will have to go outside sometimes. Funerals are the worst. I don't know why I am this way but I am. I also find it funny to see people fall down. (I know, I don't mean this is a hateful way) it is just the look on their face when something like that happens. I try to make sure they are alright then laugh. (doesn't always happen that way) Yes I am like you in some ways, but then mine takes a curve and what can I say. I find humor in just about everything. I laugh almost every day at something. (I LOVE sarcasm. I guess that makes me very weird) Our family is full of jokesters and pranksters.

The ones I have as contacts are full of humor and it is far from dry. At least your questions posted, every time I ask a question about Canadians, Yahoo will not even post them. Some do have a good sense of humor about themselves and a few don't. They are no different from any other nationality or social group on here.

I like to think I have a good sense of humour, although I sometimes feel as I come from another planet. I have no time for alternative, foul language, slapstick 'comedy', anything where someone gets hurt. I like good clean fun, and some satire.

Your sense of humour sounds a lot like mine. I tend to see the funny side of the strangest situations, often something will amuse me and my Husband just can't make out what I'm laughing about, even after explaining sometimes he still doesn't get it. I'm Welsh, don't know if that makes a difference, maybe it's down to being surrounded by sheep! Don't think it really matters what type of sense of humour you have the important thing is that you have one I suppose!

I think the dark, sharp, sarcastic humour must be a by-product of the profession. I have known a lot of doctors and nurses (and policemen and firemen for that matter) that have this type of humour. And I am convinced it comes from having to deal with humanity at it's worst.

Being a former nurse I too have this darker, sharper humour. I am quite careful to keep it contained around people that just WOULD NOT understand. And since I live in Canada, I don't think it differs much by country, but maybe by career.

I have a great sense of humor and have been told I have a very quick wit. I laugh frequently and a lot of things can bring a smile to my face. I enjoy almost all types of humor, even "potty" humor, and slapstick. As a firefighter, I tend to appreciate the dark humor. It has gotten me through some very tough situations. Sometimes we laugh instead of cry.
A lot of times, people don't get my sense of humor either, but that's ok.

Oh, I love a smart-***! Sarcasm is always welcome. The people who can let those verbal barbs fly, the ones that go right over most people's head, they make me laugh out loud. It takes a quick wit to see the humor in some situations. Do you get to read the Dilbert comic strip in English newspapers? His sense of humor is type I favor.

I"m American and do enjoy all types of jokes. I like everything from the Knock-Knock jokes my grand-kids tell to the very naughty ones I hear from friends.

Some call it sarcastic. I prefer witty. Sometimes slapstick can be funny, but I tend to have a dry, sharp sense of humor, too, and sometimes dark. People don't always get it either unless they know me. (I am American as you can see from the spelling.;)
