If you are medically/physically not able to give birth vaginally then they will do repeat c-sections. If the previous c-section was an emergency one there is a chance that the incision on your uterus was done vertically(up and down). If this is the case you are at high risk for uterin rupture (for the incision on your uterus to open up during contractions) and they will not allow you to try for VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean).
Some women choose to have a c-section for future births after having one, but more and more doctors are even encouraging VBAC's for women who are strong candidates for it. There is a higher risk, but not so high that they avoid them, to go the VBAC route after a c-section. They give you a brochure to read that goes over all the risks and the things that up your chances of having a successful VBAC and have you sign a form saying you are aware of the risks. This form also says at any time during labor or before you can request a c-section instead of the VBAC.
Because the risk is higher, when/if you go into labor on your own before the cutoff date (when they will do a c-section if you have not gone into labor by a certain time, 41 wks for us) they tell you to come in when your contractions are 10-15 minutes apart apposed to the normal 5 minutes apart. They do this so they can monitor the baby's heart beat and the contractions and make sure you are progressing. They will also put an IV in you that is unattached to an Iv drip just incase they need it for an emergency c-section. They keep everyone near by that would be needed incase of an emergency c-section as well.
Many many women have been successful going the VBAC route and some have not been. Because every woman's body is different the only way to tell is to get your docs okay and try it.
One of my main reasons for choosing to try a VBAC is because it took me about 2 months or so to recover from my c-section with my son 12 yrs ago. I have decided iw ould rather deal with 24 hours or less of pain and be up and around with out pain meds to care for my newborn then 2 plus months of pain and recovery.
So far everything is looking good for a successful VBAC, but they are doing an ultrasound at 37 wks (3.5 to go) to estimate the baby's size. If she is near 9 pounds, at 9 pounds or over they will do a c-section then. As i said above if i have not gone into labor on my own by 41 weeks they will also do another c-section. My son was 2 weeks late and weighed 10 pounds 10.5 ounces. they tried to induce me twice before finding out how big he was via ultrasound and i had only one contraction.
I hope this helps answer your question and makes you more informed then you were before. I have read everything i can find and asked every possible question of the doctor about a VBAC to make sure i knew everything there was/is to know about it. Some people will try to talk you out of it and tell their horror stories, but ignore them. Everyone's body is different and the choice is yours and your husbands/boyfriends not theirs.
Good luck and God bless!

Not necessarily. You can try for a VBAC or a Vaginal Birth After C-Section. My first baby was a c-section but my last two have been vaginal.

Just find a doctor or midwife that will oversee it for you. The risks of another surgery are GREATER than having a vaginal birth, so I would go for it if I were you. It's also less expensive and better for the baby and you.

Both of my vaginal deliveries went well with no problems at all. Both VBAC's were midwife-assisted and I was a few blocks from a hospital "just in case" something went wrong. Thousands of women are having them successfully each year. I hope you will try!

I had an emergency c-section on 070606 after 3 hours of pushing. After everything was back to normal and I was recovering they told me the reason I could not deliver naturally was because my pelvis was to narrow to deliver baby naturally. My daughter was 7lbs 1.5oz.

I am now 6 months pregnant and my daughter is 14 months old. I asked for a c-section because I did not want to go through all that again as it was so exhausting (36 hours of labour after waters breaking naturally). They told me to at least consider a VBAC. They told me the risks of both. There are no reason that you could not going naturally but I am choosing to have another c-section simply so I can be well rested and be more alert and ready to deal with my new child. Also I am a big chicken and am to scared to go through that again.

All the best speak to your consultant and ask their advice.

It depends on the doctor and the doctor's insurance a lot of the times. But you can have a normal labour-if everything looks good with the pregnancy-and the reason you had the c-section before aren't present again.

Once upon a time if you had a c-section all of your deliveries had to be via c-section.

Now, many doctors advocate for a VBAC (vaginal delivery after c-section). There are a few circumstances where this will not be possible based on how the original incision was made.

Consult with your OB if you are considering a VBAC in the future.

You can have a normal vaginal birth after a c-section but it is very, very difficult to find a doctor who will let you. They will tell you at the beginning of pregnancy that you'll be able to but then they find all sorts of reasons not to allow you to. (almost everyone I know who have had c-secs this has happened to)Also the medical malpractice companies lean very heavily against VBACs, so doctors are usually not allowed to do them even if they want to. Yes you can have a normal labor it is called (vbac) vaginal birth after ceceran. Many doctors dont want to but they are doctors out there that believe in vbac you have to look for them but they are not hard to find. I know this lady her first child was a cecearan but the other 3 came naturally.

You can certainly have a vaginal birth after having a c-section (VBAC). Your doctor will closely monitor your labour during your second delivery. Most women can successfully have a natural birth after a c-section birth.

My three pregnancy have been -section...
The first one was cause my son was breech...
The second I ask the doctor if I could have him vaginal but when the time came the c-section scar started tearing inside and I was bleeding a lot...
The third time was because it was twins...

So I was advise not to have any more kids because of so much tearing in the same cut It cannot resist another pregnancy...
It sad for me because I love children.

It depends on the reason for the c-section. You can have a normal delivery after having a c-section and most doctors recommend it unless what ever happened is likely to happen again.
