Washington DC – An abundance of new peer-reviewed studies, analysis, and data error discoveries in the last several months has prompted scientists to declare that fear of catastrophic man-made global warming “bites the dust” and the scientific underpinnings for alarm may be “falling apart.” The latest study to cast doubt on climate fears finds that even a doubling of atmospheric carbon dioxide would not have the previously predicted dire impacts on global temperatures. This new study is not unique, as a host of recent peer-reviewed studies have cast a chill on global warming fears.

Well, as noted, this came from a conservative blog. Secondly, the scientist who is most quoted as citing this study as sounding the death knell for human influenced global warming is an astronomer. Not a climatologist or anyone you'd think would have expertise in the field. Then they quote a physicist and a meteorologist. The meteorologist would be the best one for your side, but your local weatherman is also a meteorologist, so who knows how important this one is?

Now, I went and read the actual paper. Not being a scientist, I couldn't make much of it. But certainly if it said what you're claiming, that would be there. Oddly enough, it wasn't. Here's what was in the paper:
"The upper end of this range approaches the threshold for "dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.""
Why would that be included in a paper that was making the point that there is no evidence for human activity contributing to climate change? Simply put, it would not be. The paper does not say what this blog claims. I followed some of the links in the blog, and they also do not support his position, they are basically links to his other blogs. There are no other citations to peer-reviewed papers supporting this claim. Let's face it, the science is not on your side, and your side has yet to come up with a good explanation for why scientists would be biased. They'd get funded either way, so why would they all be on one side? If they cared about publicity and fame, they wouldn't have become climatologists in the first place. Sorry, but you've really got nothing to support your beliefs.

nothing unusual for places like Hallett or Mt Remarkable to get snow...just a bit late in the year at the moment.... my mum was born way out at Appilla and it is known as the coldest place in SA....Peterborough often gets snow as well.... if it continues and becomes seasonal then maybe climate change...possibly caused by mankind... but more likely by the changing of the planets axis.. as has happened thru" the the years... and with the shifting of the planets plates... causing changes in the el nino effect in the weather.... noticed the recent volcanic activity lately ?.... .

I remember just 17 years ago it was Global Cooling and the disappearing ozone all over the world! Now in the summer Phoenix constantly has high ozone warnings. Man is insignificant in this world. What were the long term climate effects of all the nukes that we used and tested?

While we are fighting Man Made Global Warming lets all get together and fight Rapid Magnetic Pole Shifting, Continental Drift and Volcanic Eruption environmentalists?!

and armadillos are migrating north because its cooling off in the south? LOL. That's funny i just hit one of those little rascals up here in north central Missouri on Saturday with the truck. Though i guess it could be the lack of water in the recent past in most areas of which they normally inhabited. Except now Texas might want to consider investing in an Ark project from the looks of things. But the real troubling and puzzling thing i have notice personally is the decreased number in the frog population. That is a tad bit concerning. I've always found them to be a pretty good indicator of an environmental change of some sort taking place.

Tink, don't hit 'em with facts. The MSM hasn't told them to believe anything different than mankind - especially George W. Bush - is to blame for "global warming." Funny - isn't this the same scientific community who was predicting the next ice age about 30 yrs ago, with the same amount of gloom and doom?

Such a big deal was made out of the 1600 scientists who signed a letter warning us about the "devastating consequences" of global warming, but you sure as hell didn't hear much about the SEVENTEEN THOUSAND scientists who signed a petition stating there is no convincing evidence that greenhouse gases will disrupt the earth's climate.

I still want to know who to blame for the last ice age, damn it! Alaska *used* to have a nice, temperate climate. Those damned Republicans! I just KNOW somehow, this is all George Bush's fault. ;o)

This should be a scientific debate, not a political one.

So now scientists are right, so now the projections and computer simulations are all suddenly right? Or is it only the ones that give the answer you want are correct.

The debate is not over, but politicians should keep their big fat noses out of it.

The scientists quoted mostly in the article, "Ian Wilson, astronomer" doesn't really seem to exist as a credible scientist. Why does a google search turn up nothing on this guy? I have published in peer review journals and my stuff is easy to find. Who is Ian Wilson?

"Other scientists are echoing Wilson’s analysis. Former Harvard physicist Dr. Lubos Motl said the new study has reduced proponents of man-made climate fears to “playing the children’s game to scare each other.” "

Dr. Motl is works on string theory, not a climatologlist. It is like asking your dentist to perform a triple bypass.

Naturally that article comes from the Minority side of the Senate Committee. We know that the Republicans represent the interests of the oil companies. What else is new.

I guess there will always be doubters and skeptics but until the majority of reputable scientists change their minds, human-caused global warming is the current scientific consensus.

I NOTICE THE MAIN PROBLEM WITH THE CRITICS IS THE LINK YOU HAVE PROVIDED. THESE PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE GLOBAL WARMING IS THE LATEST SCAM OF THE LEFT. EVERY SOME MANY YEARS THEIR IS SOMETHING ELSE TO SCARE PEOPLE. THE LAST OF WHICH WAS GLOBAL COOLING & A SECOND ICE AGE IN THE 1970'S. NEVER HAPPENED.

I think that this is interesting. I would like to know why this is not a reputable source as some of the answerers above have claimed. If anyone has a reason as to such, please let me know. Outside of that, I think its quite interesting that now, according to the British, the real global warming won't begin till 2009. I mean come on. Oh well, looks like the democrats will have to come up with some other scare tactic to win them the White House now.

Its funny, republicans scare us with terrorists and democrats scare us with the environment, neither of which should be a real issue in the coming election, but because those are the issues they tell us to think about, we follow them like little sheep being led to the slaughter. Have a mind of your own people and it should be us, the people, who direct the campaigns and decide what issues are important, not the people who are already in power and know which issues to play on to win.

Brilliant, I cannot wait for more of this, so this hoax can be exposed for what it really is.

I asked a few months ago how will you feel when this is exposed as a fraud and you have supported it. By looking at some of your answers it appears that rather than admit they were duped that they will continue to mindlessly attack the truth. Sad isn't it, so out of touch with reality.

The other day someone asked me for studies proving my point, I stated that as a skeptic it was not up to me to disprove AGW, but it was up to the supporters. Have you noticed none of them can? There are no studies to support AGW, it was a work of fiction and even NASA today is going whoa, we are not supporting AGW, we are merely studying it, and the whacko who heads that department most likely will be taking early retirement soon as he has overstepped the bounds of scientific study with false statements and statistical analysis.

can you say buh bye, to global baloney?
