Hi....Can any 1 help?. I'm into bands such as The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Minor Threat, Social Distortion, The Casualties, The Misfits and Black Flag, but many people call me goth and I don't even listen to gothic rock :(

I wouldn't think that anyone who's a fan of the Sex Pistols would care what someone called them. People probably think that you're goth because you wear black clothes and have (probably) a "different" hairstyle. Is it worth trying to explain the fine points of the music scene to someone who insists on placing some sort of label on you. Overlook the comments and enjoy your life.

Those people obviously don't know what they are talking about. You could do 1 of 2 things...
1. Educate them on music genres
or...
2. Wear headphones, ignore them and keep rockin' out

If many people started calling you a goldfish would you begin to wonder if you were a goldfish??? Would it affect you in the slightest bit? Nope? Okay then apply same principle to this and you have no worried!

Why would they call you goth? Do you dress all in black every day, rant about conformists, talk about vampires, talk about how much life sucks, or write poetry about any of the above topics?
