why is news considered as business??

why is news cosidered as business??
help! my speech for my scholarship.... i just wanna hear what you think of that question... please help..thanks

News agencies are not in it just to be nice. They have a profit motive. Thus they are a business. Just like a store, they are selling you a product...in this case, the news packaged the way they do it. They hope you like their package better than their competitor's package so you will "buy" it and they can charge advertisers more. This is the same whether you are talking newspapers, network TV, cable TV, Satelllite TV, or internet news.
