Snake venom is a enzyme and an enzyme is a protein. Its just like eating a steak which has protein. Anyway, humans can also ingest snake venom as long as they don't have an ulcer. If you don't have an ulcer you can eat a snake whole and not die.
Venom by definition is a substance that has to be injected. Without it reaching the blood stream it is powerless.
You guys (who answered) are retards. Its venom not poison, If it were poison than the snake would die as poison doesn't require injection into the blood stream. Please disregard all other who answered, they don't know what their talking about!!!

stomach acid is stronger than poison. The venom is only effective once it gets into the blood stream. also, a lot fo snakes have built up an immunity to other snakes poison, and some other animals have also. Once somthing gets bit so many times, the body starts to know how to handle the poison and can fight off the venom with it's own antibodies.

The venom is a protein, and is digested, broken down, by the snake that eats it. In the same way, sucking the venom out of a bite by mouth is not dangerous, even if you swallow some of the venom.
