please tell me why you have not enlisted? What are your specific reasons?
For those who have enlisted and are serving or have served in the past, thank you for your sacrifice. You are true heros.

Kyle, why is it you think I would run to Canada? I was 18 during the Vietnam war and my number was 10 away from being called that year. I would have served if drafted.
You, on the other hand, are safe in your little job with no threat of being sent to Iraq. Sounds pretty cushy to me.

Jason, thank you for misinterpring my question. I just wanted to know why you chose not to join the military since you support the war in Iraq. You are welcome to your opinion and I hope you would welcome mine.

This chickenhawk argument defies logic. People who do not enlist have their own reasons for doing so, and they have every right not to. That's what those who do enlist fight for--the freedom to make those decisions, and so that not everyone has to fight.
Let's take this argument to it's logical conclusion. Are you against crime? Then why aren't you in law enforcement? Why haven't you become a police officer? Are you against world hunger? Why aren't you in the peace corps? Are you concerned about the homeless? Why don't you invite someone to live with you? See, you can apply this to a myriad of things that people are for or against, and then accuse them of being hypocritical for not actively participating in the cause.

Im not for the war (and besides Ive already retired from the military). But personally I think thats a dumb question.
Thats like saying "since you are against the war, is that why you didnt enlist?". I doubt (I sincerely hope) that peoples decision of whether or not to choose a job in the military has anything to do with the particular engagement being fought. In fact, if I remember correctly, if you joined the service "because I want to go kill xxxxxxxx" then they (quite rightly) didnt let you in.
Now if you asked someone "if you are so into fighting war then why dont you become a mercenary" then that would make more sense.

I was an officer in the Air Force (hence the "butterbar" - slang for a 2nd Lt, who wears 1 gold bar insignia) some 20 years and 2 bad knees ago.
Needless to say, the argument that "if you support something or believe an action is right, then if you don't actually participate, then you are a hypocrite" is essentially illogical and dishonest.

because it's a VOLUNTEER force... the military is NOT for everyone.. and with your logic.. if you're AGAINST the war, then you have no say in the conversation either.
and i'll second the Kyle guy on here... if a draft was instituted.. i would be FIRST in line. don't question my patriotism nor my logic just because i don't join the military. that's just rubbish.
Don C.. hmmm, nice work there buddy... there's absolutely NO way i could find a list of Libs who haven't served in the military.... you just wasted a whole 10 seconds of copy and pasting.

Because I have a great career, and decided out of high school not to join the military....free country. Although if there were a draft, I would be happy to fight for my country, unlike people like you who would flee to Canada.

I believe it was a good decision and still is. I also living in a free country with a volunteer military have that choice as to whether I join or not. My decision to do soor not is my own personal choice and frankly is none of your buisness.

I do and I did. I still believe it is better to fight the Islamic cult in Iraq than in Manhattan.

Career to important freedom of choice not to go to important volanteer army too important
I guess all these things are important to them but the lives of our servicemen are not so important, or they would go help them fight a war they support.
They haven't enlisted because in their hearts they don't really support the war.
just like they haven't adopted any unwanted babies, but think every pregnant woman should go to term whether they want the kid or not.!!
