:)

They both weight the same, because a ton is a ton, but the feathers have more MASS.

The ton of bricks displace nearly a pound of air, but the feathers are made of less dense material and displace nearly 3 pounds of air. So when you weigh the ton of bricks, it is about 1 ton and 1 pound of mass, buoyed up by displacing 1 pound of air; and the ton of feathers is about 1 ton and 3 pounds of mass, buoyed up by displacing 3 pounds of air.

If you weighed them in a big vacuum chamber, you would need to add about two pound weights to the bricks to make them balance the feathers.

Hey there!

Nice try, if you're trying to fool me. They both have the same weight!

1 ton is always equal to 1 ton!

Most people think it is ton of bricks, since one brick is more massive than 1 feather. However, it is talking about the mass, rather than the number.

Hope it helps!

Excellent question. In this case they both weigh the same, there would just be more feathers than bricks, since they both weigh a ton. But if you were to ask which weighs more a pound of feathers or a pound of gold, I would have to say a pound of feathers weigh more than a pound of gold. Precious metals like gold are weighed using troy weights, in which a pound consists of 12 ounces (5,760 grains). Objects such as feathers are wighed using avoirdupois weights, in which a pound consists of 16 ounces or 7,000 grains.

The feathers . . . Duhhhhh! Just kiddin'. A ton is a ton, regardless what you're weighing.

Neither

They both weigh a ton.

Often the question is asked "which weighs more, an ounce of gold or an ounce of feathers?" in which case there is a difference because gold is weighed using troy ounces and feathers are weighed using avoirdupois ounces

You should ask that to your president, and I think he will say a ton of feathers (unless Condoleeza told him the right answer)!
