until recently i would go out a lot with my son so he would just tfall asleep in the car a lot so i figured the ride got him sleepy. The past few days i've been mostly home and i notice that after a little over an hour he gets super cranky and wants to sleep and his naps last at least 45 min they aren't catnaps at all. Is this normal? Should i itry to smoothe out his schedule more? he wakes several times during the night to nurse but just for a minute or two at a time and overall sleeps 10-12 hours a night so i dont think hes sleep deprived from the night

He's probably going through a growth spurt..at 4 months it's totally normal to still be napping all the time, he's still a little little baby. Let him sleep all he wants until he starts staying up late at night or waking up and wanting to play..that's when it's time to cut back on naps. And my oldest woke to nurse a few times a night for a minute or two until he was 1 year old, so that's not an age thing at all.

If he's used to sleeping on and off all day while out and about its probably jsut a schedule he's on. Just try to keep him awake a little longer so he can get a longer nap in instead of a bunch of little ones.

If he's recently been vaccinated he'll be sleepy, also if he's growing or sick or has fever. Medicine will also tire him out.

Check for fever, and go from there.

Like the answers before me, I agree. You should try to get a schedule going. And also keep him up longer between naps. Do things with him that are more active, bright colors, sounds, etc.

trieing to fix his schedule wont hurt, but all babies are different and it just might be a growth spurt, or teething, and he will be over it soon. if i were you i would take advantage of ot because i have a 21 month old and a 10 month old and they dont ever stop!!!!!LOL
