I've even read an article this morning with some black folks defending his behavior or even go as far as saying he's being persecuted. I mean, it is being over-publicized, but come y'all!

Hell no I am not ashamed of him! He doenst represent me or any other decent african american person! If you want to look at it like a race issue, fine, him being black should even be MORE of a reason for him to do the right thing, because he is black and everyone is just looking for him to fail! He handed it to them on a Silver platter! Doing some bullsh*t that he didnt even need to be a part of. He was suppose to be better than this because he is black and people are waiting for him to fail, and he gave them what they wanted! Now he is going to have nothing.....If anyone should be ashamed, it should be his mother...she has 2 dumb a** son's that flushed their careers down the toilet!

Sure, I'm black like Mike Vick, but why should I feel ashamed of him? He's not my friend. I don't know him personally.

And I do agree that this dog fighting is over publicized. A prominent NFL Defensive End by the name of Leonard Little actually killed someone when he driving drunk and hardly anyone knows about it. No one seemed to think it was grounds to end his NFL career and he actually received a more lenient penalty than what Vick is up against. Those people at PETA must have a lot of influence.

No, the only person who should be ashamed is Michael Vick for getting himself into this mess. Being black shouldn't be an issue. People need to stop influencing crime with race and vice versa.

I do not see this as a race issue.

Mr. Vick acted horribly towards animals, killing, torturing and encouraging them to fight to the death. Also he perhaps broke league rules by running an alleged gambling ring on the dog fights.

If this was a white person, the crime would still deserve the same punishment.

The reason that this gets so much press is because he is a superstar in the NFL, not because he is black.

Everyone should be ashamed of Michael Vick. Anyone who could hurt an animal could hurt a child.
I have had Pitts my entire life and they are the most gentle dogs you could ever have. Pitts are known to have the mentally of a three year old child. You can not treat Pitts like any other dog. They require lots of love and attention.
It is people like Michael Vick that give these loving creatures a bad name. Pitts are going to treat you like their owners treat them. If you love them and care for them they are going to love and care for you. If you beat the s**t out of them they are going to try to beat you.
As for the people defending him, they should have to live one day with him and be treated like he treated his animals. Then let them defend him, if they are even still breathing after being tortured like that.
And as far as making this a racial issue is ridiculous. I am personally getting tired of every time a black celebrity gets in trouble its because he's black. Michael Vick made bad decisions and tortured another living creature and he needs to be punished.

Being that many of them seem to want to collectively revel in black individuals' achievements, yes, I think they should.

I'd have to agree with the first poster, as well. I'm not black, but I am ashamed of Vick.

no we should not feel bad ,why? because of a witch hunt for 1 black quarteback in american pro ball? this is a witch hunt. what about the ref who changed the outcome of all those pro bball games? he'll get a slap on the wrist. had vick cried he would be seeing an easier time. white people should be ashamed of each other for rescuing abandoned dogs in the katrina aftermath instead of black people (humans) . just because media says it's wrong doesn't make it a real crime.

I think America should be ashamed. As for defending him. Get over it. He is black and broke the law. He is not above the law because he is black. He needs to deal with the consequences of his actions.
