No. The Democrats want us to lose the war in the hopes that they get some political gain out of it.
Just today, on the news, Senator Levin acknowledged that the US is defeating the terrorists in Iraq. He still!!!! thinks we should withdraw right away.

The earlier answers to this question suggest that many of the "Dems" still haven't learned. Their argument that Iraq is not a part of the global war on terror shows they fail to comprehend the true nature of the threat facing the West. The war against the West by radical Islam, or Islamic fundamentalists, or "jihadists" if you prefer, started long before 9-11. Has everyone already forgotten about the Marine barracks in Beirut, the Khobar towers in Saudi Arabia, the first attack on the Twin Towers (1993), the attack on the embassies in Africa, and the U.S. Cole? Radical Islam was convinced by the defeat of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan that it was now time to take on the other "infidels", the West and the U.S. in particular. Our failure to respond to the long series of attacks that followed the Soviet defeat emboldened the enemy. The attack on 9-11 came almost four years after bin Laden had announced the jihad against America. And al Qaeda is only one part of the global jihadist movement. If Osama were captured or killed today, the threat to America would decrease, but only imperceptibly. Iraq is just "one front" in the war on terror. And we should stop calling it the "war on terror" and call it what it really is: the defense of Western civilization from the global jihad by Islamic fundamentalists. Until everyone in the West, including "Dems" understand that we are at great risk of more 9-11 type events. You can't win a war you don't know you are in.

Surely it hasn't escaped your attention that many key Republicans are now publicly saying that we need to make a change or get out?
If the war is against extreme Muslims (I'm thinking 9/11, mostly), then why are we in Iraq and not Afghanistan or Pakistan? Even Syria? There are many places that are more dangerous than Iraq.
Where were most of the terrorists from, on 9/11?
Where are most terrorists trained?
Where is the leadership of Al Qaeda?
Where are the terrorist press release style videos made?
Where have all Al Qaeda leaders been arrested?
Where are terrorists trained?
What nationality is Osama bin Laden?
What nationality were/are his "officers"?
Which countries are suspected of harboring terrorists?
Which countries are suspected of helping with banking/financing for terrorists?
Etc.
The fact is that there was a cell in Iraq related to weapons. There was a cell in the U.S. doing much more. There probably still is!
If we're going to fight terrorism (by anyone), then let's stop wasting time and money and lives in Iraq and focus on the problem. I don't like to hear on the news about young Americans dying in Iraq as terrorists organize, train and rebuild elsewhere. Because those people that I hear about on the news are real. They have families and friends who love them. If they're going to sacrifice their lives, let it be for a reason...

I don't think democrats were ever against fighting Islamic extremism. However, I think they were opposed to fighting a pointless war in Iraq which initially had nothing to do with Islamic facism, but now is a hotbed for such activity.

We will never know what the Democrats have realized by listening to them.
They said in 2005 that if they were to take over congress in 2006 they "Will end this war" Well, you know what happened.
If you listen to the democratic presidential candidates they tell you that the war on terror is just a slogan that the dumbest man in America used to trick them.
Nancy went to Syria to prove it. When she came back she said ahhh-ummm-ahhhh, well, I really don't know what she said. What we got out of the deal was a higher minimum wage that will end poverty. I wonder why all the other times the minimum wage was raised it didn't end poverty but this time it will?
Edwards says that the war on terror is just a bumper sticker slogan and when asked what he meant by that he said: "We shouldn't say anything that will limit our options" I don't know what that means either.
Richardson says we should bring all troops home, So does Kucinich, So does Gravel, So does Dodd. Obama wants to bring them home and then attack Pakistan, seems like the long way around. Hillary doesn't want to do any of that and she doesn't want to do what the republicans want either. She has me on the edge of my seat. Whatever it is, it will cost us some of our paycheck you can count on that.
So the answer to your question might be found in a magic eight ball.

Please.
It has nothing to do with "winning" anything. That's the excuse most people who support this war in particular use in order to make up for the horrible job their president has done. The war will never be won especially a war based upon lies and deceit. As a family member to a Col. in the US Air Force and wife of an Army vet, I know that our country is run by money hungry, racist, not realty based white men and their families that want to make everyone of us that hate this war feel guilty for not "backing up" our nation. You have no idea what my family has been through because of this country. They don't care for their military when they are dieing from war based reasons? Why should anyone have to support death? There is no full fleged reason we are at war in that country except to take over like we always try to do and have power over people we (you) hate. If this was really a war on terroism, we'd be in the correct country. Stop letting your wallet tell you who to support.

Islamic fascism(at least spell the word right) is a catchy phrase, but it really is meaningless. The people we are fighting against do not belong to a state. They fight for a religious ideal. Fascism began with Benito Mussolini, and it centered around the state not an idea.

thank you for taking word that we actual triumphing. we are at the instant ultimate in on the the rest al-Quada forces in Diyala, and different Extremist forces are on the run in Northern Iraq. united states of america and Allies are actual succeeding, and we could quickly be waiting to establish a solid government, and harm the insurgency. Pulling out now's the worst thought. we are actual triumphing, and Democrats desire to wave the white flag? that could desire to be amditting defeat. And Iraq will exchange right into a refuge for the al-Quada, the Shiites, and the Hezbellah, the Taliban and different substantial Islamic Extremist forces, which will finally bring about a different attack on US soil. The Democrats merely desire to suck as much as the individuals by skill of attempting to pull out of Iraq. they desire to look like they look after American lives, and this u . s . a ., yet whilst they actually cared, they could stay there, and gain our venture, combat on, and win this warfare. My comprehensive relatives switched form Democrat to Republican this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, by way of fact they see this too. I actual have constantly been a Republican, and now something of my relatives has joined me. we could merely wish everyone sees that the Democrat occasion does not comprehend what they're doing, and their "variations" are going to run this u . s . a . into the floor. bypass MCCAIN!!!!! bypass REPUBLICANS!!! thank you for interpreting :)

We will never win the war against Islamic facism. We are trying to stop crazy people who live all over the world. Do you really think that fighting in Iraq is going to stop Islamic terrorism? Welcome to WWIII.

Hopefully. This conflict is different from Vietnam. Communism started in the 1850s. Its a political system. Islam started around 600 ad. Its a radical religion. The Arab states have also mobilized terrorists worldwide unlike the communists (for the most part). I dont hate Muslims, but I dont feel the need to convert to radical Islam in order to live with them. This is a serious issue, and we need to deal with it as if its a serious issue.

Again why do we think we need to win?
Islam is just another religion like Catholics with different beliefs, I believed the real war should be againts terrorist or people who may want to harm innocent people to impose their own beliefs and not every islamic believer is a terrorist.
I am catholic and believer in Jesus and my God don't like muderers. while men the only thing they are looking for is power and what is that going to do at the end for us, make the population feel safe, having our kids growing up in a safety enviroment, is going to end in"World War III "
Think about it, there is so much misunderstanding between countries and our kids perceived and grow into this enviroment and they are the future of the world, if they are raise thinking that War is a solution to fix problems probably there is no going to be a future for them.
This is just my opinion.
