You know, did you make a friend through it? Become closer to a parent/family member (I became closer to my dad because of baseball). Etc

Just wondering. I want to hear your story :)

heck yea baseball has affected my life in a huge way. i think i became a baseball fan when i was about 8, but i became a HUGE Phillies fan when i was about 10, and i am now 14. my whole life revolves around the Phillies. the backgound on my cell phone is Chase Utley, the background on my computer is Chase, i have at least 10 pictures of him hanging up in my room, (2 of them are signed) i have a Cole Hamels and Chase Utley bobble heads, and a binch of other phillies stuff, i have a real lousiville slugger bat made at the factory, i subscribe to the Phillies magazine. when we go to Phillies game at Citizens bank park they must be aganist the Mets, the braves, the nationals or the braves.(they are in the NL east) i have lost a best friend over baseball, becasue she said she wasn't going to be my friend if i liked baseball but that just helped me relize that she wasn't really my friend any how if she didn't want to hang with me if i like baseball. i have gotten closer to an uncle of mine who likes the braves, we text each other all the time about the phillies and the braves. i don't ever miss a game unless i am at summer camp, or away, but i get the updates on my cell phone, and then when we get back to the hotel i watch basebal tonight or sportscenter, when i go to summer camp, i bring phillies stuff so i don't forget them. like i really could :-), and my mom has to e-mail every day with the box score of the phillies, the mets, and the braves. and she has to tell me how the major players on the team did, when Chase Utley broke his hand i was at summer camp, and i cried. hockey has affected my life too, but not is such a huge way. cool question star well deserved!

Great question. It brought me closer to my dad when I was a kid..he was a baseball history buff and a huge fan. I started reading books on baseball (Eight men out, Baseball as I have known it, and Mickey and Whitey) collecting cards and following the history of baseball myself. I was a baseball junkie by the time I was 16...until they went on strike in 1981. As a kid, I didn't understand the business side of baseball, unions, striking.. how could they do this? Then free agency came along.. how could they let Fred Lynn and Carlton Fisk go to another team? Talk about a bad taste in your mouth.. it took me almost 10 years before I was interested in Baseball again.
Regardless.. My dad was an old school Yankees fan, following them from the days of Ruth, Gehrig, Berra, DiMaggio etc.. I am a Red Sox fan going back to the mid 70s. My dad passed away in 94..but every time I watch a Red Sox Yankees game.. I think about how special my Dad was to me.. its funny how something like baseball can affect your life.
I'm back to my baseball junkie ways though.. I only have cable TV during the baseball season, watch every Red Sox game I can.. and if they're playing on the West Coast, I check the box scores as soon as I get up in the AM.

Watching on TV, not so much. I don't watch much TV anyway, so that doesn't have a life affect on me.

Going to the ballpark to watch, some. I don't go often, and when I do, it is most often a minor league game. It has been a great time to get to know my stepchildren, and for my stepchildren to get to know my children. With their age differences, playing together wasn't a great option.

Coaching, quite a bit. Being able to teach the fundamentals of the game, from the physical and strategic sides of the game has helped me in relationships in every aspect of my life.

Playing the game has changed my life immensely. All the previously mentioned levels of involvement would be lessened if I had never played the game. Some of my friendships go back to the days of playing little league with kids I went to school against. Baseball helped me form friendships with people outside my normal circle.

Baseball has affected my life. I'm a lifelong Yankee fan being born in the Bronx. I guess it made me closer to my brother and my dad who are really into it too. I'm really intense when I'm watching games though. I get really angry when the umps make horrible calls, and when something bad happens as well as when something great happens. I yell a lot at the screen, and my brother hates it. Playing softball has changed my life too. I've been playing for a really long time and I love it. I love learning new things, making great plays, and hitting well. But, when I make a mistake I get really hard on myself when I get home. I crack under pressure, too. But, I'm learning to deal with that. I love baseball very much, and it's been a big part in my life so far.

Baseball is to me the best way to relax. I can get my mind off of everything that's bothering me by going out and playing. I don't care what position or in what league. I always play my hardest and try to have fun with it. In a way baseball is like going through therapy because it's a way for me to just let everything go. It clears my mind, my attitude and it's great exercise. I could honestly play baseball all day every day and be completely happy and if I were in the majors I would take less than the league minimum as far as salary. The joy of playing every day would be more than worth it for me.

Not really but it did affect this country in so many years in it's early stages. There was a time when baseball meant the world to the US until football took over.

A great deal!! I grew up in the Boston Area and since my memory starts I remember the sox being on TV and my grandmother yelling at them when they messed up. If you know baseball then you know the Sox are pretty good at messing up even today after the world championship.I watch every game, If I am at work I tivo them, in fact I jsut finished watching lastnights game, woohoo 6-0 and bonus the skankees lost in Disneyland. I guess you could say it affects my life on a daily basis. I follow every game. I have a little boy he is only one but I cannot wait to watch games with him and show him the game within the game. As you said it brought you closer to your dad, I think baseball or even more precisely the Red Sox have brought me closer to my Home which is New England, the best place in the entire world. Watching games and our fans makes me proud to a New Englanda, even if we do talk a little funny.

i have watched my 3 year old son...WHO WAS AWFUL...play his heart out and now he is 16 and a STARTING VARSITY CATCHER for a 6A HIGH SCHOOL.
he isnt good b/c he had adantages...he's a student of the game. Has studied it, worked hard, and overcome what some considered limitations(he's not real big like most catchers) to become a well RESPECTED player.....
So for me i think baseball has taught my child many lessons and kept him out of trouble. Its also given him a great opportunity to have an amazing future if he keeps on his path.
Baseball was handed down from my dad to me to my son and Ill always be thankful for the time it gave us together.

Well, the 1994 strike murdered my mother. We were working at Busch Stadium and it was her only income and she was so stressed that she bled to death in her sleep from an ulcer the day before they walked out (8/11/1994). Even with that, I remained a fan, became a coach to my son's team and head a baseball organization for inner-city kids from 2 years to 16 to learn the game and stay away from crime and drugs.
