Many citizens of the USA are rightly alarmed at legislation passed into law i.e. the patriot act, the military commision act etc.. After listening to Alex jones, they fear the worst, that another false flag terroist attack, will lead to a declaration of marshal law, internment camps etc etc. I disagree, I don't think that the powers that be in the USA would get away with such dratic action, I don't think they would even risk it, I don't think they are that stupid!
Did anyone see the movie Sicko? A British politician (Tony Benn) was interviewed about our National health care system, and he was asked by moore, what would happen if the government tryed to do away with it? His reponse startled me, "there would be a revolution" he said with no hesitation. I don't see any signs here of a revolution, but it just goes to show the people have the real power, and given the right provacation, they are unstoppable. I say this also applies to the USA
What say you?

To answer your first question I would simply state that the ruling elite are smart enough to be the ruling elite. I think many things have come down over the course of this countries history that people thought would never happen. You mentioned internment camps. We did this already during WWII. Cameras being used on our streets to monitor citizens was thought of as "big brother" as in the novel 1984. The social security system is close to if not exactly a ponzi scheme which is illegal in this country. I'm not saying these examples were things that shouldn't have happened or not or signs of things to come but in response to the suggestion that there are certain things our citizenry won't tolerate. No one will swallow a whole pot of soup in one swig but we may consume the whole pot if it's spoon fed to us.

I've come to believe firmly that the ruling elite are no smarter than anyone else, and in some ways, their perception of reality is impaired by their sense of entitlement.
We have already given up many legal rights under the Patriot Act and under several executive orders and directives that hardly anyone knows about. Not only that, but the erosion of our Bill of Rights has been progressive, little by little, over the past 6 years, despite the fact that so far there has only been one terrorist attack on the United States.
Ask people on this forum if they've lost any rights and they'll either deny it or they'll say they're not afraid of having their mail read or their phones tapped because they're not terrorists. In other words, people do not realize how many civil liberties they've lost because they haven't been subjected to "justice" under the new system of military tribunals.
If another serious attack occurs, these sheepish and uninformed Americans will gladly live under martial law and all kinds of restrictions until the day that the police come for them or their neighbors. By that time, it will be too late to rebel, the new system will be entrenched.
There is a big difference between gradually taking away rights that people barely realize they have, and taking away a huge benefit like a national health system that everyone uses.

You're right, if the people did start a revolution then the government would have to respond. Such action ended civil rights abuses, the draft, and got women the right to vote. What I don't like about Alex Jones is, according to him, everything bad that ever happened in the US is the fault of our government. That a select group of individuals is always responsible for EVERYTHING bad that happens to us. What are the odds of that?

Which is more stupid, the merchant or the consumer.
Not only to one's pocket book, they peddle to Body, Mind Soul.
I say, M. Moore is a merchant, Jefferson said "Merchants have no country"
"Know your enemy, Does it live within? There are signs of
wreckage of the past catching up with us, Any thing is possible, only time will tell, I don't have a clue, All is confusion,

We basically have an "capitalism will take care of it" attitude for everything, including politics. The idea, that in our western world, the best (bullies) are on the ruder, and if they can't do the job a new, better ones (bullies) comes along in time, is based on 200 years of industrial/political success, in the eyes of the public.
What messes up that concept, is the new out of control power of a few industries and the Pentagon are changing a previous balance of powers, similar like in a dictatorship. Every empire will go that way, earlier or later.

If the rustic and Britain hadn't had one in each of those long background of interfering in the governments of Muslim worldwide places, possibly Islamic terrorism does not have began in the 1st place. working example, after the worldwide conflict II, the Allied Powers took the President of Iran out of workplace and positioned a puppet Shah in his place; so they could shelter the oil rights. In 1979, the Shah replaced into overthrown and a non secular regime took over, is it any ask your self why they hate the rustic? in addition, the state of Kuwait replaced into formed by ability of the British after worldwide conflict I to shelter oil rights in that area.

Don't think living human kind is that stupid.
Just that living human kind is not 100% perfect.
We learn by trials and errors.
And practice makes it perfect.
And we do correct the mistakes in time too.
Along the way we do make blunders and slip-ups with human errors in our life time on planet earth.
We are not the creator of heaven and earth who is 100% perfect.
We were just the blind blindly following the blind living in misery on planet earth.

Some wise man long time ago said:
People deserve their elites.
So, the elite stupidity is comparable to overall stupidity of the society.
No child left behind?
I'd rather say: somebody must left behind.

I say based on history and my understanding of it (Mussolini, Hitler, etc.) we have people in the current government in all 3 branches that exhibit characteristics of Fascist behavior and ideology, however I believe our system of checks and balances along with the majority of the peoples aversion to fascism and totalitarianism will ultimately prevail.

We do not have a ruling elite in the US. We have elected officials who govern.
The movie "Sicko" was made by a wacko. Mr. Moore only put into his film what he wanted to hear. No one in the UK can predict the future if there is a move to abolish socialized medicine.
