Wondering how much money you make to live a decent lifestyle w/ 1 child w/o taking support from childs father.

OK - Lol - people when way off on this one. I'm a married, college graduate who is going through a divorce. I make approx $50,000 right now and pay for full time daycare at $205/week. My current husband had 4 other children he pays support for - leaving him w/ $550/week to support himself off of which is extreamly difficult. We are having a civil split. And as a matter of fact I cannot "waive" child support but I can put a hold on it legally. I don't see the point of dragging my husband down further - I'd rather he have a healthy relationship w/ my child and spend what money he can afford to one outtings w/ her. I'm not a bitter angry ***** like most ex's.

Are you kidding me?

You can never make enough money-even the richest will tell you this!

Why wouldnt you want him to pay child support

Let me give you this breakdown

Clothes-winter, spring, summer and fall
Medical-annual exams and other mishaps

Preschool-if no relative to watch for free. There will be lunch and snacks to the day care plus wipes, diapers or pull ups, anit bacterial something (all ask for it), book bag and field trip money
K-11-There will be lunch and snacks to the, anti bacterial something (all ask for it), book bag, field trip money, picture money, school fundraisers etc plus participation in Pentathalons, sports, hobbies, etc
12 all of the above plus senior dues, sr pictures and a host of senior events that round up being in the neighborhood of $3-5,000 depending upon the school. This does not include a car for them to drive

Then there is college and if they get a job that helps but as a parent you will want to help out. Plus most schools wont let them bring a car on campus as freshman so then you add transportation costs, fee for going to an out state school counts as a tuition increase

If you have a girl-think about the WEDDING
A Son think about the hundreds of gym shoes he will go through

My sane mind doesnt compute your insane suggestion. Keep in mind that these are estimates for PUBLIC school-private school tuition will have you in another range altogether

That support isnt for you-it is for him so unless he is a crazed stalker he will have the right to see and support the child he helped create whether he wants to be a father or not

Why would you not want child support?????????????????
You allow the payments because any bit of extra money you can get will improve your child's life!!!! How old are you?
Your income for a suitable lifestyle depends on where you live. Because you are asking this question leads me to believe you are very young and have not been on your own yet. If possible, get certified in some kind of trade you would enjoy like medical assistant, massage therapy, technology, administrative...SOMETHING!!!!
If you are married and divorcing, this isn't even an option, the courts will demand child support payments from the father regardless what you say or think, and do you know why? BECAUSE IT IS NOT YOUR MONEY, IT IS THE CHILD'S!!!!
You may think it is an unselfish gesture, but it is actually the exact opposite!!!!!

Is this a serious question? I need more detail. It's very difficult actually. There is a long (and growing) list of daily and monthly needs/ expenses. A parent does not have the legal right to not take support for a child (in a divorce situation).

Alright, now that I have more information.. Your income would prob mean that he would pay minimum guidelines. I am not sure, but if you put the support on hold he may have to pay arrearages in the future. I applaud you for not being bitter, but he should help support your daughter in some fashion.

Best wishes!

Lol @ all the bitter hags attacking you in here.

You sound like one of the few 'real' independent women left. The rest of these girls talk like money hungry vultures...more worried about getting paid $$$ than having a child keep a good relationship with it's father. Someone should have taught them that love is ALWAYS more important than money.

No matter what happens, your attitude proves you'll fare well in life. Your husband and kid are lucky to have you.

With the increasing amount to live on, you will never have enough. If you in the support system you will have a hard time getting out. Every parent is suppose to pay something.
I understand your need to be self sufficient.
The support is for your child. Used it just for that. Maybe something you can not buy but is wished for if you can supply your child with a roof over head and food and supplies.

There must be something wrong with your brain if you don't want child support from the child's father. WHY?

That shouldn't be your decision, that is suppose to be his responsibility, whether you want it or not, because that is to help the child! He should definitely have a part in the child's life.

Oh, I get it, he probably doesn't even know he has a child, or he's abusive or something. Whatever, you should want child support! Get it together lady.

So you are a divorced mother who wants to make it alone and deprive the child of a father. May I suggest you seek counseling? Is this the way you would want to be raised?

May sure your doctor explains to you the proper use of the two birth control methods you are using.

the money isn't for you it is for the benefit of the child. take the money the child has a right to it. The lifestyle you choose to live dictates what you need to make.
