The distance between the top of Abe's head and the edge of the penny is 2/32 inch! This is also the MINIMUM tread depth that a safe tire will have.
You put the penny in the tread, with Linclon's head into the tire. Look to be sure that you can not see the area between his head and the edge of the coin! If the tread does not cover that area, the tire is worn and should be replaced.

If you can see all of Mr. Lincoln's head, you'd better consider new tires. The idea is that you need at least 2/32 of tread. If his hair is covered that's good!

if the tire tread touches lincolns hair the tire tread is still good i hope this helps.

The front tires are 3/32 limit.
