Gettysburg is freakin' awesome! :) Sign up for one of the ghost walks. They are cool.

I went in the very early morning to the battlefield. I was on a business trip and I walked to the battlefield by myself (my coworker was sleeping in before we continued our trip). I walked around and looked at the statues and plaques. Very interesting. But then I went down to the "copse" of trees. It's to the right when you go into the battlefield. It's a fenced-off stand of trees. I stood at the front of it, then something told me to walk around it. There was no one else around, so I started slowly walking around the copse. I looked in, but saw nothing - heard some birds, etc. I could see across the battlefield and saw some joggers very far away. Absolutely no one was within 100 yards of me. I got about 1/4th of the way around and I started hearing footsteps in the copse - like someone walking on leaves. The footsteps followed me. When I walked, they walked. When I stopped, they stopped. They were very tenuous, like someone was checking me out. I thought maybe a bird had gotten down on the ground, so about half way around the copse, I stopped and got right up by the fence and looked around. Nothing. So I started walking again. Just then, I heard a horse. I don't know what you call the noise it made (not a neigh or whinny - kind of a snorting sound) and it came from the center of the copse. There was NO horse ANYWHERE around. I am sure it was a horse though. I finished walking around. I was scared, but I kept looking in the copse to see if I could see anything. Nothing.

I made it all the way around and stood and looked at the trees for a long time. I took many pictures, but I didn't capture anything on film. I have no explanation for what happened that day, but I am not prone to making stuff up or scaring myself into having hallucinations. I know what I heard that day and what I felt. It was amazing.

Be respectful of the place when you are there. Remember it is hallowed ground. Good luck! :)

Gettysburg is very haunted because of the soldiers that died there. I spent a night in an Inn there. Furniture kept moving, doors and windows were opening and closing, and items were missing and breaking. My friend swore she saw someone looking at her while she slept.

I'm pretty sure it was called the Farnsworth Inn.

Go to the field where they had that battle sunset. It is the strangest/scariest thing in the world if you see (or hear) anything.
