This is a hoax, pulled out every August since 2003, when Mars made its actual closest approach. It started off as someone misunderstanding a genuine release about that event, but has now been perpetuated by ignorant people or those who just want to play tricks on you.
On August 27th 2003 Mars did indeed come within about 34.65 million miles from Earth, but it did not and cannot appear as large as the Moon. That part arose because someone said, quite rightly, that if you looked at Mars through a decent telescope it would appear similar to the size the Moon appears when viewed with the naked eye. Someone somewhere missed out the part that says you had to look at Mars through a telescope to see it that large.
So now we get this e-mail every August, even on years when Mars is at its furthest from Earth. And every August we have to answer this question many times, thanks to the one person who misinterpreted a straightforward statement about a genuine event.
Mars, when it is visible in the night sky, only ever looks like a bright star, with a slight reddish tinge.

As others have said, you're the victim of a hoax. Mars can never appear as big as the Moon, because it's so much farther away. None of the planets ever appear as anything larger than a point of light, unless you look at them with a telescope.
Despite what one person said, Mars _is_ currently visible in the morning sky, close to the star Aldebaran in the constellation Taurus, and will be closer to the Earth in December, but it won't be as close as it was in August 2003, and it will never be as close as that email said it would.

The only cool part will be watching how many uneducated idiots go out on the 27th to look for it.
The uncool part is being on yahooanswers on the 27th and having to watch all of these same idiots post - "Has anyone seen Mars yet? I don't see it do you? Which direction are we supposed to look?"
The uncool part is how people like you don't check out your facts before posting this crap. Or how you disregard using the similar questions bar.
The uncool part is how now you have even more idiots that are going to be spreading this. Maybe you will redeem yourself by coming on next year to tell the next set of idiots that Mars will not look as big as the Moon in August 2008!

Don't believe it, it's not true.
Ever now and then some joker puts Bull out like this.
When you see something on the net about Mars going to look as big as the full Moon, you should send then this message.
My Cow is dead, and I don't need your Bull any more.
The only way that Mars could ever look as large as the full Moon, is for Mars to get thrown out of it's orbit toward the Earth's orbit, and then come to about a distance of three hundred thousand miles from the Earth, this is the only way that you will ever get to see Mars as big as a full Moon.

Except its impossible and an urban myth.
If mars were close enough to earth to appear visibly equivalent as a full moon, we'd all be screwed. The gravitational pull from another planet that close would have an immense effect on the tides, at a minimum.
E-mail is full of spammy crap. Please check it out before being convinced of anything.

You'll only be able to see it if you send me the contents of your wallet and bank account numbers.
(Worth a shot, if they're foolish enough to believe that there's going to be 2 moons in the sky)
