I was readin an article about Amy Winehouse and her husband and the fact that they are dope feinds and their families are fighting... it says:

Amy was in tears after the row during a showdown with their families over their heroin and cocaine addiction..

okay... what does row mean?

After you decrease 1 stitch at neck edge on next 3 rows, then work 1 row, decrease on the next, work another row and decrease on the next = 4 rows. 'on following 2 alternative, or alternate rows' is every other row.

I must say though, that even though it is used in the UK, any one who grows up reading would know what it means...

It is a fight. Row is pronounced as in Brow not Row in this context. Hope this helps.
