David officially started football at age 13, he was NOT on big bucks then, I think some of you cant see his talent- because you are Jealous of his good looks.

SO- hes gonna bring the club More Bucks- is that not Good. Is it not good that hes bringing people in- who have never bothered before?- and is it not True- that he is bringing the sport to the forefront- which is good for ALL the teams.

It's great that Beckham can draw that many people to the match. And he's only scored one goal so far, so people are fascinated by his set pieces and passing skills.
The biggest issue for MLS = How to get people to attend matches when Beckham's not playing (when the Galaxy is not the opponents)?
Everyone in MLS knows this will be a much more difficult and longer battle. Pele drew sell-outs but NASL flamed out by the 80's. I know MLS is a healthier league than NASL ever was, but they would like to draw an average of 15,000+ per game instead of 10 or 11,000. It's about sustaining interest in MLS. More of it means higher ticket sales, jersey sales, and TV rights.

the money was about 2 things. Publicity and the pure fact that the guy already got paid that much at Madrid. To lure the best, the most recognizable, you need money, not a smile and a handshake. money. A percentage of the people who checked out some Beckham/LA games was to see what all the fuss was about this guy making so much money. If you want to talk about who plays for the money we'll talk about the NFL, NBA, MLB and now the NHL. In football/soccer the highest paid are the ones playing for the top clubs. I'm sorry but Scunthorp aren't handing out 120k a week contracts. Thats the way it is and that life in the big city and all us little fanboys have to just go out, buy a jersey and hope we're not on the choking end of the championship.
66,237 went to see Beckham. from now on, when LA comes to town, the game should be played in a football field.... the american kind. smart a$$

I can't even begin to tell you how wrong DCUNITEDGIRL is, other than to say there is a spot in the Special Olympics for her.
Beckham is the best passer in the game. Period. Others are better all around, but as a specialist he is tops.

I think that the league has been average about 16K/game for several years.
It seems that that is a stable number...and slight growth is all that is expected confidently and why wouldn't that be good enough?
NY is one of the few teams to have poor attendance.
