Tell me which one you think is overrated.

Personally I think that enter sandman is overrated because people think its real Metallica and it's not it pales in comparison to songs like One or Master of Puppets

I'm not saying he is bad or lacks talent or any of that so don't hate on me. I am just saying I think he is an average Singer and Guitarist and lots of ppl make out that he's some kinda god when he ain't.
You got a point about Enter Sandman and Metallica's career afterwards also

I don't feel Enter Sandman is overrated. In fact, I feel it's a pretty good song. It's not as good as Master of Puppets (my favorite Metallica song) or One or Fade to Black maybe, but it's definitely better than the other crap Metallica released after the Black Album.

The most overrated rock song is "Stairway to Heaven". It's my favorite song and it has a good solo, but seriously, it's not the greatest song of all time. After all, Led Zeppelin does have other good songs too.

Another one that actually annoys me a lot is Van Halen's "Eruption". I don't really get why people consistently call it the best solo ever or the second or third solo ever, trailing behind "Stairway to Heaven" and "Free Bird". It shows Eddie Van Halen's skills on the guitar, true, but I hear nothing to it.

Well, I may catch a ton of flack for this, but I would go with Pour Some Sugar On Me. Somehow it came in second on a best songs of the 80s poll that I watched recently, and if that is how the voting public feels then that is my choice. I actually liked some of the earlier stuff, but there is nothing so special about that song.

Someone in a recent question brought up Every Rose Has It's Thorn also (which also happened to place quite high on the same list), and to hear Brett Michaels tell it that song is on par with Stairway, Imagine, and Flight of the Valkyries. It's just another pop power ballad, nothing special.

Oh my God, thanks to the guy who put Allstar by Smashmouth. That song makes me want to stick an ice pick right in my retna and proceed to turn. Their I'm a Believer cover is even worse.

Smoke on the Water

After once or twice, the lyrics just get SO annoying!

And the opening riff isn't all that great ~ I've heard better.

Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones.

Sorry, it just never did it for me!

Anything by Oasis - they are NOT 'Rock' , they're 'pop'.
All they ever did was try to be a Mancunian version of The Beatles.

For all those people who said 'FreeBird', have a listen to the Live at Knebworth version, or see the one they played on 'The Old Grey Whistle Test'.

It sounds so much better when you can actually see them playing it.

AGREED!

Enter Sandman & the other 2 soft songs off the Black Album which EVERYone loved sucked. They must've gotten into Metallica *after* 1991....

Others for me:

"Champange Supernova"- Oasis (the whole Band is overrated)

Hate to say it, but I never thought "Freebird" was all that. I think Skynyrd has LOTS of Way better tunes.

Here's 5 of them

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (everyone keeps hyping this song to the point that well...)
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb (same here...)
Oasis - Wonderwall (it's not really that great compared to other stuff from the 90s)
Green Day - Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Not true Green Day IMO, but the 14 year old girlies with no knowledge on the band does not care)
Black Sabbath - Iron Man (mainly due to mass usage in a huge amount of truck commercials...)

AllStar by smashmouth. It was a real let down to have that AND another song by them on shrek, plus just seeing them at the end or rat race performing that song just ruined the whole movie for me, and i'll stop it every time it gets to that point.
