It will always fit, as long as the box is slightly bigger than the pizza. If the box was round, and the pizza was out of round, the pizza may not fit.
Also, making a round box is more expensive than a sqaure box.

A serious answer, for a change: a round box should be made to fit perfectly, because otherwise the pizza would float around and get damaged. Square boxes prevent that (please don't tell anyone I actually answered this one...).

imagine delivering a round box , it cant be folded easily, that is why it is not used. The manufacturers would need more space to deliver them to the users.and square can stake easily and in a good order unlike the round which can not fit on each other, hope it helps

Because round pizzas are traditional and square boxes are easier to store, carry, and stack, so therefore more economical.

Because carving boxes into a circle shape would be a pain. All boxes come in square-shapes.
